Chopped Culinary Competition Students will put their culinary skills to the test in the 2nd annual SBCSS Chopped competition. The competition will provide students the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of career related skills, learn how to fulfill assignments, and test ability to respond in a high paced restaurant environment. Under the evaluation of local industry judges, students will execute specific verbal and written instructions and adhere to health and safety concerns while preparing main entrees and side dishes to industry standards. Rube-a-thon Competition Rube-a-Thon is a team-based competition where students design and build Rube Goldberg machines—complex, chain-reaction devices that perform a simple task in the most elaborate way possible. Teams are given a set amount of time to construct their machines and craft a story, using a variety of everyday objects, with creativity, complexity, and functionality as key judging criteria. Sustainable League of Combat Robots Plastic Pandemonium The Sustainable League of Combat Robotics (SLCR) is a hands-on robotics competition league that emphasizes the use of sustainable, affordable materials, with the majority of the combat robots built from 3D-printed parts. SLCR offers a platform for students and educators to engage with STEM concepts by designing and building 1lb Ant weight Class robots, competing in events throughout the year. Redlands Robot Rumble The Redlands Robot Rumble is a SLCR competition featuring Plant Class Battle Bots, where high school and middle school teams from San Bernardino and Riverside Counties compete with 1lb combat robots. This event highlights creativity, engineering, and robotics skills, with trophies awarded to top teams in each division.
