Inujima Landscape Project 3

Learn about the small island of Inujima in Japan's Seto Inland Sea and the relationship between the rise and fall of its industries and its population. The video traces the rise of the island's industry, with granite quarrying peaking in the late 19th century and the establishment of a copper refinery in 1909, boosting its population to 5-6000 people, and its subsequent decline over the 20th century, leaving fewer than 50 residents today.
