implications for IBS users on our Cloud-based SaaS platform as well as those whose enterprise servers are premise-based.” IBS will migrate its own back-end servers to Itanium during the coming months, automatically providing advanced processing power to the firm’s SaaS clients, which access the IBS system via the Internet. Long-time IBS user Vornado Realty Trust this spring will also start its migration to the Ita- nium code set on its in-house servers, according to Mullin. The Itanium compatibility reflects IBS’ ongoing effort to leverage technology ad- vancements. In late 2013, the firm released Version 11.0 of its proprietary soft- ware which, among other enhancements, takes ad- vantage of Oracle’s Web- Logic Server 11g to connect the user interface to the database server. This has significantly improved the programming department’s ability to write software interfaces between various applications and environ- ments. Version 11.0 also features more efficient computing capability through Oracle’s JRockit, which is touted as the industry’s fastest Java virtual machine. Addition- ally, a new IBS Integration Hub involves a series of web services providing third-party applications the ability to give and get data from the IBS system. “Much of our ongoing prod- uct development responds to our users’ evolving require- ments,” Mullin said. “Many have been with us since we introduced our first, home- grown platform. And just as IBS has helped them improve their bottom lines by provid- ing computing efficiency and data integrity, they help to guide the progress of our product. Updates like the Itanium code set and Version 11.0 ensure that our system continues to provide the so- phistication and scope they have come to expect.” n
