Riley’s article in The Bible Champion for August 4, pp. 446-8, in which he ‘dared’ the leading Evolutionists, Jordan, Conklin, Osborne, et al, to meet him before the univer sities in open debate, etc. Their comment is a challenge to all 4 A’s to rally and furnish the money to finally answer such stuff! It is beyond m e! “What can we do to ‘turn back the battle from the gate’? From a human standpoint the case is hopeless! ‘We have no might—we know not what to do, but our eyes are toward thee. Wilt thou not judge them?’ (2 Chron. 20:12). Still, ‘when the enemy cometh in like a flood’ (Isa. 59:19), I am fain to fall back on 2 Chron. 20:15; 32:7,8; Deut. 1 :29, 30; Exodus 14:13,14—to wait only upon God, my expectation is from Him (Psa. 62:5, Psa. 27:3). “Yet the exceptional virulence of this assault, the evidence increasing that they are more and more success ful in their efforts to inoculate our youth in schools, coupled with other manifestations of Satanic activity seen in the alarming increase and boldness of crime in its grosser forms in our large cities, New York, Chicago, Rhiladelphia, et al, in the increasing arrogance of the liquor interests, and in the hitherto unsuspected yielding of the defense along vital theological lines—all these sound in my ears the warning of the nearer approach of ‘The Climax’ foretold in the Word of God, the heading up of all forms of evil under the leadership of that mysterious person to be revealed in his own time. “Let us pray, and, as Cromwell said, ‘trust in the Lord and keep our powder dry’ ! The ultimate issue is sure. May God continue to us all, not only courage and patience, but wisdom also, fulfilling His promise in Luke 21:15 (see Acts 6:10). We need $10,000 at once,” he continues. * * * Wasn’t it' significant that the attorney who sought incorporation for the American Anti-Bible Society was Charles' Recht, attorney for the Soviet government in the United States? * * * Communistic tactics interlocking alliances and of penetration are being used in the world-wide atheistic movement, and the Russian Reds are declaring that their “Association of the Godless” in its anti-religious and atheistic work is achieving its objective of creating a united front of anti-religious propaganda, making the struggle against religion in the West one of the factors in the class war of the proletariat against the bourgeoisie. ijs H< H< The Association of the Godless is a universal organi zation. Since 1925, it has belonged to the “Internationale Proletarische Freidenker Gemeinschaft,” taken part in its conferences and invited foreign Godless delegates to the USSR. D., . of Spokane, Washington, has sensed the real I seriousness of the situation being caused by | Atheistic propaganda in the schools. His letter is so much to the point that we publish it herewith, hoping it may arouse others to literature and to definite prayer for the young in their communities: “ ‘Hey there! Wake u p ! The Philistines are upon thee, Samson!’ Get busy. Seriously, however, for the matter is no joking matter, I am just in receipt of four separate pieces of mail matter, in four separate enclo sures, sealed—:all in one mail delivery—from one Charles Smith, president of the 4 A’s. I need not tell you their contents. You can guess! Possibly you have received the same. One is ‘Godless Evolution’ ! The title is so worded, I believe, to attract attention and to forestall the “refer endum” on “Evolution in the Public Schoolsjjjj in Arkan sas, November 6. “But why to m e ? Out here in Washington? What have I to do with Arkansas? The other is ‘The Bible in the Balance’ ! That is simply awful! I shuddered as I read some of his blasphemous expressions—shrank back as from lightning (2 Sam. 6:7). A rehash of Bob Inger- soll’s worst, and even worse! It made me sick. My heart sank within me and ‘became as water’! I am glad, how ever, to have these concrete specimens of the sort of literature with which (I had heard) these 4 A’s are flood ing the country, our schools, and our homes. “I had had no adequate conception of the virulence of their Atheistic attacks or of the Satanic subtlety of their propaganda. They are pouring out this stuff like water, scattering these blasphemies like the leaves of Autumn! We cannot compete with them in that line. Those whom we would reach with our literature will not see it nor read it! Nor can we match them in cunning (Eph. 6:12). To read their brazen repetitions of stock infidel attacks on the Bible, familiar to us for years, and of unsupported, utterly false assertions of Evolutionists, which have been exposed and exploded time and time again, and to know that with these, unchallenged, they are stuffing our boys and girls—the hope of the next generationS-to be, by them, swallowed whole, is most disheartening ! A Q ueer C omb ination “Further, that which puzzled me most was the fact that in each and every one, was' one of the little slips, put out by The Bible Champion as an advertisement! Now why should they enclose such a ‘boost’ for The Bible Champion in such literature, and to me? It surely was a queer combination. At first I thought that some loyal defender had sent them to me that I might see what they were doing, at the same time giving me the ‘high-sign’ to assure me of his own position in opposition to the 4 A’s. I was mystified. My perplexity was further in
