wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our in iquities. How we praised the Lord when we heard him say he would accept Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour! You should have seen some of the boys when he testified to them. Christian boys, for there are several in that shop, just hugged him and almost carried him to his work bench, just as the whistle blew.” Helping th e D istressed by Radio "p \R . ISAAC WARD, a Los Angeles Presbyterian Pas'L l tor, has had an hour on our K.T.B.I. radio program. He writes the manager of the station thanking him for the opportunities for doing good that have opened up for him as a result of his radio messages. Before Dr. Ward had finished one of his messages recently, the operator’s phone rang and a woman’s voice asked if the minister would be willing to come to her home and talk with one who was in great mental distress. Dr. Ward was led to go. He writes us as follows con cerning the outcome: “You will be interested to know the result of my visit with the lady who called up yesterday after the radio message. “She is a young married woman who plays:;; in the films, but who is not a regular associate with the film peo ple. She lives in a very attractive apartment with her husband (whom I also met) and they are very evidently much devoted to each other and live very happily. “Her father (who has been dead for several years); was a Presbyterian minister in the State of Washington, and we may safely judge of his standard of preaching by the fact that on a number of occasions he preached for Dr. Mark Matthews, with whom he was familiar. Mrs. Leeds’ mother died three weeks ago and she (Mrs. Leeds) has been in an experience of very extreme grief ever since, so that she has hardly slept in that time and often would

have to get up in the night and walk around the block with her husband. “Her chief difficulty was extreme confusion of mind regarding death and the after-life. She has been told by so many that the souLsleeps until the Resurrection, and by others that there is no life beyond this. She was in real distress, I was glad to show her from the Word of God that there is hope and joy and blessing in connection with her whole experience concerning her mother’s death, etc. “This morning her husband informed me that she had had her first all-night sleep in three weeks. She was very anxious that I talk with her sister also, so today I had a long helpful talk with both of them. They have put station K.T.B.I. on their list now. They were both greatly rejoicing and are resolved to take a definite stand on the Word of God and close their ears and hearts to the doubts and contradictions of the world.!’ I I Talk About S tingy Souls! Some years ago a Sunday-school worker told his ex perience in organizing a school in a needy locality. He had outlined thé needs and the methods, and then passed the hat for money to supply literature. The hat came back. In it were a few coins, but none larger than a nickel. Noting the offering, he exclaimed, “May God have mercy on your stingy souls !” But he couldn’t raise another cent. Then he took another turn. He told the people that if any man who had contributed would like to have his money back rather than have it doing the Lord’s work, and would come forward, he could have it returned. Up the aisle the donors started and took back every penny ! They left the hat !
