General normative guidance is not enough for implementation. The uSupport Deployment Strategy and a comprehensive Deployment Kit have been developed to guide countries in their preparation and onboarding of the platform. The Kit contains cleared youth friendly MHPSS content, User Manuals and Technical Guides, Terms of Use and Privacy Policy (for Clients and Providers), Content and Marketing Strategies, Standard Operating Procedures, Risk Matrix with corresponding mitigation measures, Operational Model, Payment Model for service provision, and other resources. The technical design team has also created a repository of UI usage documents to simplify uSupport scale-up. Capacity-building activities are also offered to the implementing countries.

Flexibility is key uSupport is a not-for-profit open source platform that aims to be accessible to any interested government or national partner that may wish to adapt and use it for their own needs. It is designed in a way that can be easily adjusted to different needs and country contexts – either used as a whole platform, or only selected modules/ functionalities. A critical factor of acceptance is that uSupport adjusts to local regulation and links to the locally available system of care as part of an integrated system rather than a separate ‘one-off’ solution. engaged in advocacy and open dialogue with national authorities in implementing countries (ministries of Health, Education, Information) and with local practitioners to ensure that the advantages and limitations of digital solutions are fully understood and accepted.

regulation and laws. Of particular importance to

countries has been ensuring the protection of national health data which remains stored in- country, a key concern also for parents and young people.

Quality matters

uSupport ensures that the content provided on the platform is evidence-based, vetted and written in a manner and style that is appropriate and appealing to young audiences.

Cost is a concern

Users are partners

uSupport helps cut costs as it avoids every country investing in developing their own separate solution. The platform cost-shares the maintenance and updating costs across interested countries that together contribute towards the greater sustainability of the solution. It also offers innovative financing solutions through the “coupons” option.

Buy-in is enhanced through the full involvement and participation of communities in the design and development of the programme. uSupport has been co-designed with the full involvement of young people, including those with lived experience, as well as with the advice from experts and practitioners so as to be youth- friendly and trustworthy.
