Satya, your career began in film scoring and electronic music. What life experiences pushed you toward sound as a tool for healing? Steeped in mantra and vibration, my upbringing unfolded through the full spectrum of life’s experiences within a family rooted in Vedic traditions. But the real pivot came from collective trauma. I arrived in Boston for my first semester at Berklee College of Music just days before 9/11 — the grief in the air was palpable. Years later, in 2008, I was back in Mumbai during the terror attacks. Those two experiences revealed something profound: that sound has the capacity to hold communities through their most fractured moments. In 2012, while living in New York and immersed in the electronic music scene, I still felt something essential was missing. A neuroscientist

Because it’s where the need is most urgent. Stress, anxiety, and depression are no longer fringe issues — they’re daily realities across cultures. Our health systems, much like us humans, weren’t built on integrative foundations. They are overstretched, fragmented, and reactive. I wanted to create environments that people could step into — and immediately feel supported. Research backs this: spatial listening has been shown to regenerate neurons in the hippocampus, which is essential for memory and emotional regulation. By structuring soundscapes with specific frequencies, resonances and rhythms, ASE helps guide the nervous system toward calm and coherence. It’s about re-training the brain away from constant fight-or-flight.
