It’s essential to improving health outcomes for Canadians. What’s next in GreenShield’s work to increase access to mental health care for all Canadians? We’re constantly evolving our services to meet the needs of Canadians, and that means looking at mental health through a broader lens – one that includes support for chronic conditions and overall wellbeing. But one area that requires urgent attention is youth mental health. Every year, more than 1 million youth in Canada need mental health support. Yet nearly 60% are not getting the care they need. Barriers include complex system navigation, long wait times, and cost. And for youth from equity-
seeking communities, these challenges are even greater.
To help change that, we’ve launched the Youth Mental Health Ecosystem – a centralized digital platform delivered through GreenShield+. The platform connects youth directly to trusted organizations like Jack.org, Tel-Jeunes and various Integrated
Youth Service (IYS) networks, making it easier to find help.
We’re also offering free mental health support to youth aged 15 to 29 from underserved communities, including personalized counselling and a one-year subscription to internet-based CBT. By combining the right technology with the right partners, we’re building a more equitable future where every Canadian can access the care they need. That’s what Better Health for All is about.
