for TEMI, enabling it to provide companionship and support residents through interactive engagement. Piloted at St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre Brantford, TEMI was deployed to explore how technology could reduce loneliness and social isolation among older adults, issues known to exacerbate cognitive decline and depression. Over a 16-week study, residents interacted with TEMI two times per week. The results were promising: participants reported a 16.6% decrease in loneliness and a statistically significant 14.5% increase in perceived quality of life. Beyond companionship, TEMI demonstrated how an autonomous, voice-activated robot could assist with everyday care, translating in real time, connecting residents to loved ones through video calls, and even dancing to bring joy into daily routines.
