Region 10 Program of Studies

5 An apprenticeship offers students the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in a structured learning environment while earning academic credits. Unlike a typical job, apprenticeships provide mentorship, skill development, and exposure to potential career paths, laying a solid foundation for future success. Why is an apprenticeship better than a job in high school? 6 Students will be released from school on their scheduled Region 10 days, after completing the classroom component of the program (released at 9:30 am to go to work). That equates to five school days of working over two weeks, but students are not limited to work more hours with their employer after school and on the weekends.. How many hours/days do I work? 7 Student classwork is centered around creating professional documents (i.e. - resume, cover letter, letter of resignation, etc.), professional correspondence and communication within the workplace, building employability skills, and financial literacy. What do I do in the classroom? 8 Although employer evaluations are a routine part of the program, the grade is given by the program instructor. Does my performance at work influence my grade?
