ILLUSTRATIVE

Christ and the Church C HRIST had no wifej no child. He had no child to prattle and sit pn his knee, dor any wife on whom to bestow affec­ tion. He never said, “My wife,” or “My child.” He 'did say, however, “My father,” and “My church.” The church is the bride o f Christ and the book of Revelation tells us o f His marriage to her. Yes, I know all about the church’s his­ tory, the shadows that have fallen over her; her unfaithfulness and sin throughout all the centuries; yet she is the bride and wjfe o f the Christ. Be careful what you say against the Church which is the bride and wife o f Christ. This, too—dhat although the church has fallen short o f her high standard in the
