THE KING’S 1BUSINESS

and ready response, his hunger to know how to be saved, and to lead him to the simple reception and confession o f Christ, then and there. It certainly does not take long for an anxious sinner and a seeking Saviour to come together. May we just say in closing, that the other day as we finished speaking in what we call a particularly hard field, a man stepped up to us, gripped our hand and thanked us for the message. “The boys down here take in a heap more than you sometimes- think they do. Perhaps they never tell you when the Word goes home, but sometime, somewhere, you’ll be surprised at the result of what looked like a hopeless task.” So with a note o f praise and thanksgiving we press on, bespeaking your prayers as we pursue the labor o f love, for the reaping by and by. have accepted Christ and understand the teaching o f the Bible, I am so happy, and now have a living hope.” Although he cannot contribute financially to the work o f the Lord, yet he is “ doing his bit” in testifying to his fellowmen o f the joy o f salvation. A Mexican who was very sick, rejected this man’s testimony with cursing and denying the Lord, but on his last day called the convert to his side and begged that he would sit by him, as he was his only friend and he alone had spoken words o f hope and comfort. He had completely changed in his attitude. Towards evening the converted Mexican started to go out and the sick one begged hitn not to leave, but promising to return soon, he went on. On his return he found that the spirit o f the sick man had left the body. “ Safe in the arms o f Jesus.” On one o f our last visits to the hospital, he brought another Mexican, to whom he had spoken, and who said he, too, wanted

the call came for service and away he went. Perhaps the two may never come together again down here, but God will take care o f the seed and in “that day” the result will be manifest. There is nothing like the personal touch. W e spoke to one young man who, when asked if he was saved, said, “ Oh, yes, I am a Christian.” W e pressed him for the time when the great transaction took place, and he answered that it was when christened as a baby. Poor, deluded soul! W e told him, just as straight and lovingly as we could that he was on the road to hell, and pointed out from the 3rd chapter o f John, and 1 Peter 1 :23, the necessity of being born again. From the W ord o f God we led him to see himself as a poor, lost sinner, and how the Lord Jesus had taken his place. It was precious to see his swift L ET him that glorieth, glory in this; that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord.” W e wonder if the friends o f the Bible Institute realize the extent o f the growth •of the Spanish work. W e have groups o f believers that would constitute the nuclei o f three churches. The following incident will .show the loyalty o f one o f these groups: A fter’ it was learned that there were some new converts in a certain locality, they were visited and their names asked for, but the new converts thanked their visitors and said, “W e have a pastor who found us and brings us the truth, visiting us regularly. W e are grateful to him, and do not wish to change.” A young Mexican convert in the County Hospital, after studying the book, “Jesus is Coming,” in Spanish, one day said to us: “How I wish I had money; how glad I would be to contribute toward the hasten ing o f the coming o f the Lord. Since I
