THE KING’S BUSINESS

221 decided there was no way to have' ever lasting life outside o f accepting Christ as one’s personal Saviour. Every argument the 4 evil put in my mind was more than outweighed by the arguments in the, book lets. I was forced fo admit that the Bible was true and that Jesus Christ was the Son o f God, for it was God who answered my prayer, ‘That I may know’. I am inter ested in the Word o f God and am happier than ever before. Praise His holy name. Jesus is my best friend, and I know I have eternal life for John 3:16 proves it.” W e hope to have some more interesting letters from some o f the boys. Pray much for this work.

my personal Saviour, but did. not under stand, and doubted the Bible and. Christ, until on July 5, walking along Spring Street, I stopped at the Biola Club. I was looking at a tract, entitled, ‘Are You Saved? Yes or N o?’ Mr. Reynolds asked me, ‘Are you yes or no?’ I replied ‘I do not know; I am not sure’. After a few minutes conversation, he asked me if I would like to know that Jesus was the Son o f God. I said ‘Yes’. We went inside and he gave me a prayer to pray, also some .booklets to read, among them a Gospel o f John. I went to a noonday shop meet ing with him that day. WORK AMONG THE JEWS

James A. Vans, Supt.

TVI AN ’S extremity is God;s opportunity,” and such we found was the case with a Jewish family living near our Mission Home. The wife and child were both ill and the husband very'much discouraged by his failure to find work. The wife, who was a very devout Jewess, felt that some how God would help them in their hour Of neqd. She repeatedly tried to encourage her husband with the w olds,'“ Gott vert uns helfetn,’’ Le., “ God will help us'C-rbut he, a skeptical Socialist, only scoffed at her. About this time we heard o f their need and with the help of Christian friends, were able to relieve their immediate wants and to supply medicine for the mother and child. W e then took advantage o f the opportunity to open up the Scriptures to them. The eagerness with which that little Jewish woman drank in the precious truths o f God’s W ord was refreshing to see in these dark days o f skepticism and unbelief. As God’s great plan o f salvation was revealed to her she would frequently burst

out with the words, “I believe it must be so” ; “I believe it must be so” . A copy of the Bible in Yiddish was left with them, together with some good tracts, and it was not long after this that the wife accepted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour. She has since given her first testimony at one o f our Jewish meetings. A few days ago we heard the welcome news from her husband, that from the day we left the Yiddish Bible and talked with him, he had become a real believer in Jesus Christ. Recently in calling upon them we noticed the Bible lying .on the tableland the wife said it was kept where it would be con venient to read in, spare moments. She also told us with a smiling face that they no longer observed the practice o f “ Bench Leicht” , which is the Jewish custom of lighting the Sabbath candles on Friday night, as Jesus, “the Light o f the World,” had come into their lives and now, truly “old things are passed away; behold all things have become new.”
