THE KING’S BUSINESS

Is any girl asking Him to leave her? Perhaps not for all time, but do you ever want Him to leave you for a little while that you may do something, go somewhere that you would not be quite comfortable were He with you?. Don’t go anywhere,

girls, that you must leave Christ outside the door. Christ came only to do good and to help the Gadarenes, but they, bade Him leave them. And He did. Christ never remains where He is not wanted. But oh, what the Gadarenes missed.

Jesus Stilling the Storm

TV/T EMORY VERSE : “Even the wind and the sea obey him.”—Mark 4:41. Preparation .—Did you ever see the ocean? How did it look? Yes, it must have been a calm day. Sometimes the winds blow, the waves are very high, and it is rough and stormy. Can you see across it? Why not? The Bible says the sea is His and He made it. Once the whole earth was covered with water, but God wanted peo ple to live here and love Him. He wished to have land that there might be trees and plants, so that there would be food and a beautiful place in which we might live. So God told the water to move and let the dry land appear. Do you think it obeyed H im ? It makes us sad to think that the great, strong, wonderful ocean obeys Him and many people do not. They want to have their own way. I f people had been like the ocean, Jesus would not have needed to have come to suffer and die. Would the water obey you or me? Once a great king had his golden chair taken beside the sea. He told the water not to come up and touch him. Do you think it obeyed him? No, the water obeys only one voice—God’s. His word says, “ Even the wind and the sea obey Him.” Will you bow your heads and say this little prayer after me? “ Dear Father, help me to obey, too, Amen.” Presentation — (Describe briefly the vicin ity o f the sea o f Galilee). There were so many people living in that country that

they needed much to eat, so God gave them many kinds o f food. Sometimes the weather was warm, and the winds soft and gentle, , just the kind o f weather the figs and oranges need. Sometimes the winds were strong and cold, for that is what the apples and pears need to make them sweet and juicy. The water on the lake might be smooth, and the breezes gentle, but sud denly the sharp, cold winds would come through the valleys o f the mountains and in a few moments the lake would become stormy. The fishermen would take down their sails and hurry to shore. This is the country Jesus loved and'in which He'lived and taught. Many knew Him and loved Him (name all you can). One beautiful spring day the Lord Jesus was in a boat on the lake. He had been teaching all day. It was near sunset and He was tired. We think it was the same day that He talked to them about the man sowing seed. His friends had taken Him out in the boat. They put a pillow under His head that He might lie and rest. They were drifting on the smooth water. The green hills, the houses o f the towns, and the soft, white, fleecy clouds floated by. Did you ever lie in a boat? What do you think you would do if you were very tired? That is just what He did— fell asleep. After awhile the weather changed. The rushing wind came from the mountains and great high waves tossed the boat. I think they' took their sails down and hurried
