without Christ. The hired mourners laughed Him to scorn. Unbelief knows no soothing words like “s l e e p i t has no hope; it weeps and laments. Unbelief must be shut out from ,the resurrection scene. The soul is to be restored before prepared witnesses. Pearls are not cast before swine. Faith is Rewarded. The father had said, “ Come and lay thine hands upon her.” The Lord took her by the hand. He who spoke “Let there be light” now said, “ Damsel, I say unto thee, arise!” - What a story o f a home! Distressed by disease; desolated by death; radiant by resurrection! PRACTICAL POINTS (1) All rulers must bow to the Supreme Ruler. 'T ' HIS lesson lends itself to a variety of * illustrations. 1. An anxious father for a lost daughter. 2. An anxious father seek­ ing the right source o f help for his daugh­ ter. 3. Parents’ lack o f faith in God to do for their children. 4. The wonder­ ful effect o f Jesus’ words upon the child. , Anxious Parents .—A Christian father came home at 11 o’clock at night to find that his 15-year-old daughter had not yet arrived from the nigh school entertainment. He was very anxious and met every car until midnight, then he telephoned the police 'and brought all the municipal machinery into play to find her. W e won­ der if he would have been as anxious over the lost condition o f her soul as he was over her body. A mother went to the Sunday school superintendent and ask him how her Mary was getting along in Sunday school. How many parents today ever ask the Sunday school teacher or even the day school teacher about the progress o f their chil­

In this instance the superintendent said, “ I have not seen M ary' for two or three Sundays.” The mother was worried, and prayed about it, then took the matter up with Mary. She only found the girl hardened in the matter and wilful about ever going again to Sunday school. The mother pleaded with her, but to no avail. Not many months after, Mary left home. Her mother did everything possible to find her, but after all hope o f her recovery was gone, she continued to ask the pastor and others to pray for Mary. One night, some months after her disappearance, the pastor saw Mary on the street-car. It was the car that went towards Mary’s home, and he determined to watch the girl. She stepped from the car at the accustomed street and walked slowly » toward home, went up to the front door, lingering on every step, then her heart failed her and she dare not ring the bell. She came down the steps and went around to the side o f the house and stood looking at her mother through the window as she was ironing in the kitchen. Mary studied her mother’s face for sometime, then she went softly to
