THE LESSON

7 . And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits; ; 8, And commanded them that they should take nothing fo r their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse: 9 . But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats. ■ 10 . And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into a house, there abide till ye depart from that place. 1 1 . And whosoever shall not I. Jesus in His Home Town, vv. 1-6. What city did Jesus depart from? What city did He go to? How far from Caper­ naum was Nazareth and in what direction? (About 20 miles, west and south. See map). How long had He lived there? How long had He been away from it? How did He spend the Sabbath day? What effect had His teaching on the congregation? What Aid He do in addition to teaching? Why did He not do many “mighty works” there? What did the people urge as a reason for not believing in Him? What was the real reason? Who lost most through their unbelief—themselves or Jesus? Does believing in Jesus benefit more ourselves or Him? When they would 'not receive the blessing Jesus had for them, what did He do ? How did these other places treat Him ? How are you treating Him ? Are you help­ ing or hindering Him?

And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught. Hunter. II. Jesus Sending out Missionaries, w . 7-13. Whom did He chose to send out as mis­ sionaries—-men who knew Him, or stran­ gers ? What is the most important qualifi­ cation for being a missionary? Where did He send them at this time? (See Matt. 10:5, 6 ). Were they “home” or “ foreign” missionaries ? In what order did He send them out ? What advantage is there in send­ ing men out in pairs ? What new power did He bestow upon them? What instruc­ tions did H e. give them regarding their “outfit” , and “ support” ? Were these per-, manent, or temporary? (See Luke 22:35, 36). Do they apply to our missionaries today? (See 1 Cor. 9:11-14). What instruc­ tions did He give them regarding the length o f their stay in any place? Is that binding upon our missionaries today? Is it evi­ dent that the tour was a special tour and
