note to crippled shut-in Kate, including a tract on “How to be a Christian.” And when Ruth, discouraged and unhappy, rushes to her in tears, she quietly tells her that she needs Jesus Christ, for she has found that He can satisfy and give joy in spite o f reverses and trying circumstances. Then at evening she tells Jesus all about the day.. Just as these, disciples réturned

to Jesus and “told Him all things whatso ever theyjhad done” (v. 30). Possibly dur ing the day for a moment she criticized her big sister, or was angry or impudent to mother. She tells it all to Jesus arid is as quickly forgiven (1 John .1:9). God may call her to be His errand girl in far off China or India, and if He does, she goes, for she has learned that.

By Mrs. A. L. Dennis. Jesus Feeding Many Hungry People

M EMORY VERSE : “Give ye them to eat” (Mark 5:37)1 Or, “ Give us this day our daily bread.”—Matt. 6:11. Preparation— Do you see this little grain o f wheat? How could you, make it feed many people? I f we should plarit.it, in a few years with God’s help, it would make enough to feed many. God alone has -the power to make a little into much. Every year He'makes one grain o f wheat or corn, or one peach or apple seed that has grown into a tree, give food to many people. It is really He who feeds the birds, bees, ani mals arid us. That is the reason all those who love Him, bow their heads when they eat and thank Him for their food. It is because He loves us so much that He lets us help. The farmer plants, the miller grinds the grain, the baker, sometimes mother, makes the bread, but after all we must thank him. (Say or sing) : “ For back o f the loaf is the snowy flour, And back o f the flour, the mill, And back o f the mill, the wheat and the shower, The Sun and the Father’s will.” i All the power o f God was given to His Son, Jesus Christ. That is the reason I have this story to tell to you today. Presentation .—On the beach near Caper naum, were the Lord Jesus and His twelve friendsv They had been away from Him for some time, going about the country preaching and healing. He had sent them,

and now there were many things about which He wished to talk to them. So He said, “Come let ,us go across the lake, away from the crowds o f people.” They sailed across the lake toward the green hills, away from the cities. When the people on the shore saw where the boat was going, they said: “ Come, let us go around the lake. It will only be seven or eight miles, and if we run fast, we can get there as soon as they.” The people in that country thought nothing was too much trouble if they could only be with Jesus. I f we had been in the boat that day, we might have seen thousands o f people run ning along the shore o f the lake. Even the men in that country wore long coats o f red, green, purple, or white. I thinb it would have looked like a moving flower garden. There was one little boy living in Capernaum who did just what boys would do today. He asked someone, “Where are you going?” They must have said to him, “ See that boat out on the lake? The Great Teacher is in it. We are going around by land to meet Him, and hear Him teach.” Do you know what he did next? He must have heard the Lord Jesus teach before, for he did not run right along with the people, but went home and said, “Mother, may I go, too ?” Mother said, “That is a long way, so I’ll fix you up a little lunch.”
