Chief Digital initially pioneered flexographic printing, setting new stan- dards with high-resolution 120+dpi printing and in-line UV and die-cut- ting. However, the company’s true digital transformation began around 2008 with its first HP Scitex FB950 press, accelerating quickly with the addition of the HP 700 in 2010. The rapid integration of these presses established Chief Digital as a digital print leader, setting the stage for a significant leap in capability and quality. By 2012, Chief Digital installed the first of two HP 7600 presses, mark- ing a pivotal transition toward a fully digital workflow capable of support- ing both short and medium-run jobs. The installation of an HP15500 press in 2015 further bolstered Chief Digital’s capabilities, delivering superior quality and enabling entry into highly demanding market segments, in- cluding electronics and cosmetics. The most transformative step occurred in 2018 when Chief Digital be- came the first US adopter of the HP PageWide C550 press. This installa- tion revolutionized their production capacity, scaling from thousands to tens of thousands of high-quality digital prints daily, drastically enhancing efficiencyand productivity. The C550 was the missing piece we needed to convert even the most demanding customers to digitalprint, stated Aaron Hayes, VP of Digital Operations, Chief Digital. “It provided the quality, flexibility, and scale re- quired to meet increasingly complex client demands.” Digital printing technology has delivered substantial operational ben- efits to Chief Digital, including significant reductions in setup times, waste minimization, and the agility to produce exact quantities on demand. The shift from traditional flexo methods, with their lengthy setup and frequent adjustments, to digital printing has dramatically streamlined operations.
