Lesson Plan: 1. Show students an image of the Bill of Rights, in related media. Although they may not see the text on it clearly, ask them what they think the term “Bill of Rights” suggests. Give them a minute or two to think about it and share with a partner. 2. Read the article. 3. Be sure to remind the students that the Bill of Rights is part of the Constitution. The Bill of Rights was written by James Madison. It was added to the Constitution to ensure that our individual rights are protected. 4. Have the students discuss the following questions with a partner. Have them write their thoughts in their interactive notebooks. 5. Combine partnerships into bigger groups and have them share their ideas. 6. Monitor discussion for misconceptions and give feedback, as necessary. 7.
