Summary of the Week: Students will learn about work. They will study spending, saving, and donating money. They will also learn about budgeting and practice making a budget. Standards: N/A Teacher Background Knowledge: N/A Notes for Teacher: ● The sequence of articles in this week is designed to build and support the learning of concepts for students. ● For this week, each student will need a clean soup can or other container that can be made into a piggy bank. ● For the “Work” activities this week, the students could use a “roll and record” kind of board. Consider printing and laminating them beforehand. ● This week's lesson uses plastic coins or play money. Students will also need something to store their money in. You will also need access to a classroom set of dice (one per student). ● You can incorporate math connections with the “earning money” activity for the week. You can also include math during the final budgeting activity. Essential Question: What can people do with money? Learning Objectives: ● Students will be able to define spending, saving, and donating. ● Students will be able to create a budget that involves spending, saving, and donating. “I Can” Statements: ● I can define spending, saving, and donating. ● I can create a budget that involves spending, saving, and donating.
