I love auction nights but donning my heavy auction pin stripe suit, being shut in the inevitable quiet room at our auction headquarters here in Bristol, waiting for the live broadcast followed by the vibrant atmosphere of a live “on line” auction as it takes place certainly all raises the temperature! In my overheated state I cannot but envy our viewing

FOR SALE AT LIVE ONLINE AUCTION : a properties for sale from Cheltenham to Taunton and from Chepstow to Bath and many areas in between. What is a notable change for me is how, modern technology, continued low interest rates and ease of travel has opened up the west country to so many more people. When I started as an auctioneer selling country property by auction was a rarity and usually involved a small gathering in a pub often on a wild windy night in the winter. Purchasers had to be very determined to turn out but now they can stay in the comfort of their own home or even the beach and bid. The recent removal of the Severn Bridge tolls has added a whole new area to the beautiful areas in which commuters to Bristol can now settle. Our young members of staff cannot believe my childhood cycle rides to Chepstow involved a somewhat precarious and muddy ferry trip across the river but on returning home I used to tell everyone I had been abroad! Now people happily commute from the beautiful Wye Valley without a care. The September sale certainly proved my point with successful sales of property taking place throughout the region whilst in Bristol a prime student investment reached 2 Million pounds. There is nothing an ebullient auctioneer can extol about the virtues of the ubiquitous garage, however, their usefulness cannot be denied and when offered in blocks of two to ten they become very attractive and good easily run investments. The evening ended with a plethora of them. Thus ended another successful evening with an eclectic range of property with sale prices from £15,000 to £2million. Worth getting up a sweat for!
