The Pulp & Paper Safety Association announced its open- ing keynote speaker, Michael P. Doss, President and Chief Executive Officer of Graphic Packaging International, for the 2023 Safety & Health Conference on June 11-14 at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. Since joining Graphic Packaging in 1990, Doss has held positions of increasing management responsibility, including plant manager at the Gordonsville, Tennessee, and Wausau, Wisconsin plants as well as President/COO, Executive VP of Commercial Operations, and Senior VP of the Consumer Packaging Division. He holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial marketing and a Master of Business Administration in finance, both from Western Michigan University. He is also a graduate of Harvard University’s General Manager Program. Doss serves on the Board of Directors for the American Forest & Paper Association, the Sustainable Forest Initia- tive, and the Paper Recycling Coalition. The 2023 program focuses on the latest trends and technologies relating to workplace safety, including lead- ership, high functioning safety committees, PPSA Call to Action 2.0, panel discussions, OSHA updates, and creat- ing authentic “speak up” cultures. Georgia-Pacific To Invest $91M In Upgrades To Monticello Mill

Atlanta, Georgia based Georgia-Pacific announced that construction will begin soon on a $91 million upgrade at its containerboard mill in Monticello, Mississippi. The invest- ment is one of the company’s largest investments in the Lawrence County facility. The project consists of replacing the log line, which includes scales, cranes, a rechipper, unbinding racks and other critical equipment needed to safely unload trucks and prepare logs and chips for processing into pulp. “This project will create long-term value and improve our capabilities as we work to become the best manufac- turer in the industry,” said Drexel Lambert, Vice President for Georgia-Pacific containerboard operations. “This investment reinforces Georgia-Pacific’s commit- ment to Monticello, Lawrence County and the surround- ing area,” Jeff Joyce, vice president for the Monticello mill, said. “It will position us for continued success in the future.” Visit gp.com for more information.
