Standards: N/A Teacher Background Knowledge: The lessons this week will help students understand that things change over time. They will learn that timelines are tools that help us understand events that have happened in the past and events that are happening now. Students will begin to understand that everything around them changes over time. They will identify how they change and how their families change and grow. They will see how they change at school when they learn new things. The lesson taught about how neighborhoods and communities change over time will allow them to recognize that time passes and things change. Notes for Teacher: ● The sequence of articles in this week is designed to build and support the learning of concepts for students. ● For the lessons this week, students will need to bring primary source images from home. At the beginning of the week, you will need to send a note home to students' parents or guardians, requesting images for the timeline activities in the “You Change Over Time” lesson and the “Families Change Over Time” lesson. You will need to bring these images of you and your family as well. The students will need to bring the following pictures: ○ a baby picture ○ family pictures that show how their family has changed over time (at least three, if possible) ● The Poster Pal activity “Timeline of My Day” will be used in the “Timelines” lesson. ● The Poster Pal activity “Our Class Changes” will be used in the “Our Class Changes Over Time” lesson. For this activity, you will be creating a timeline of how your class has changed throughout the year. If possible, show pictures and records that show how your class has changed over time.
