28.5 c. Arrange the chairs in a circle in a safe playing area with one fewer chair than there are students. d. Point to all of the chairs in the circle. Have the students identify the picture on each chair and tell you whether it is a good or a service. i. For example, a picture of some apples would be an example of a good, while a picture of a mail carrier would be a service. e. Choose a student to be “it.” Have that student stand in the center of the circle while all of the other students sit in chairs. Tell them to check to see if they are sitting on a good or a service. i. The student in the middle will call out one of three things: Good, Service, or Market Day. ii. If the student calls out “Good,” all of the students sitting on a picture of a good must switch chairs while the person who is “it” tries to steal a chair. iii. If the student calls out “Service,” all of the students sitting on a picture of a service must switch chairs while the person who is “it” tries to steal a chair. iv. If the student calls out “Market Day,” all of the students must switch chairs while the person who is “it” tries to steal a chair. v. Whoever does not have a chair is now “it” and stands in the middle. f. Debrief the game by discussing the goods and services that each of the pictures show. g. Write the words “Goods” and “Services” on the board. Have the students sort their picture under the headings. 9. Recap the lesson by discussing what goods and services are.
