Have the students think of a time when they were a consumer and bought something and share with a partner. (Answers may vary.) 5. Give each student an index card with a “B” written on one side and an “S” on the other side. Tell the students that you are going to call out some situations. They will hold up the “B” side of the card if it describes “buying” and the “S” side if it describes “selling.” Give students time to think before they raise their cards so they aren’t just raising what their neighbor raises. After the students decide if the scenario shows buying or selling, discuss whether the person buying or selling is a producer or a consumer. a. A farmer gets money for giving her apples to the store. (selling, producer) b. A father pays money to get food for his family. (buying, consumer) c. A woman makes clothes and exchanges them for money. (selling, producer) d.
