Gorilla Product Guide (Revised) 2019

PROPER SEATING: Never use a Cone Seat fastener on a Mag or Shank type seat. Spherical or ball seat fasteners must be used with spherical or ball seats. Bottom line, the different types are not compatible, and if installed incorrectly, the fastener may lose torque, possibly resulting in wheel loss.

The information provided is only a guide. To ensure proper lug nut and lug bolt selection, refer to the vehicle manufacturer’s specification or the stock lug nut. This guide includes information on the best way to determine the correct lug nut and lug bolt for your customer’s vehicle and then to properly install it.

DETERMINE LUG NUT SEAT TYPE

Be certain the fasteners are correct for the application at hand. It is critical that the fastener match the thread diameter, pitch and seat; otherwise, the installation will be improper, and may result in damage, and could cause a dangerous condition.

DETERMINE LUG NUT THREAD SIZE

Match the lug nut using the charts below to find the proper seat type. The proper seat type is very important when it comes to replacing original equipment lug nuts or lug nuts that are used with aftermarket wheels.

You can find most original equipment stud or bolt thread sizes in the vehicle’s owner’s manual or use an available application guide as a reference. This is the diameter of the stud measured at the outer edges of the threads. “Thread Pitch" for non-metric applications refers to the number of threads per inch; for metric, it is the distance in millimeters between the threads.

The “Seat" refers to the area on the wheel where the fastener will clamp down.

CONE SEAT accounts for most Factory and Aftermarket applications.

Small Diameter Lug nuts are designed for aftermarket wheels only.

All Acorn lug nuts have a 60° cone seat

THREAD ENGAGEMENT: Every stud or bolt must be long enough to thread a length at least equal to the stud or bolt diameter. A half-inch thread diameter must thread into the lug nut at least half-inch. Every stud must be checked; some may be different lengths. Less than one stud thread diameter engagement is unsafe and will cause loss of torque. Without proper thread engagement, do not install wheels. Do not allow lug nut to bottom out on the stud or a mag shank or lug bolt to bottom out on the mounting surface. This is extremely dangerous and unsafe because the clamping force of the fastener is not being applied to the wheel. Check for these problems on every stud, some may be different lengths. If you find a problem; do not install wheels.

FACTORY STYLE LUGS Many Factory wheels require unique lug styles.
