Growthpoint Properties
A people person, Estienne brings to the table a wealth of experience, charisma, a wicked sense of humour and a strong moral compass shaped by his upbringing and personal experiences. Having worked alongside Sasse for over two decades and heading up the lion’s share of Growthpoint’s portfolio for nigh on a decade, Estienne's succession brings certainty, trust and a known leadership style. He has, after all, been with Growthpoint since 2002 when he joined as Financial Manager, becoming Managing Director of Growthpoint Properties in 2007 and CEO of Growthpoint Properties South Africa in 2016. “Trust and integrity are very important; if you don't have them then liquidity dries up,” Estienne says.. A leadership journey He grew up in Port Shepstone, a little town on the south coast of KwaZulu-Natal. After matriculating from Hoërskool Suid-Natal in 1986 he spent a year in Australia as a Rotary exchange student in Hervey Bay, a town north of Brisbane. “I grew up quite sheltered and that experience taught me to stand on my own two feet. It was a defining year for me as an individual in terms of better understanding how the world works. I met wonderful people and have maintained those relationships to this day,” he tells Asset .
