Despite the exciting prospects in Eastern Europe, Pieter’s commitment to South Africa is unwavering. “We are still fully committed to South Africa. This is our main business.” The group continues to pivot nimbly within the local market, now focusing on industrial warehousing and major mixed-use developments in the Western Cape, such as a R2bn mixed- use project in Green Point called The Granger Precinct.

Agility and a lasting legacy in South Africa The Feenstra Group’s work has not gone unnoticed, with the team frequently recognised with industry awards, such as those from the South African Property Owners’ Association and other international organisations. For Pieter, such accolades are a welcome recognition but not a driving force of the work he does.

of quality, safe accommodation in good locations. This allowance is provided to NSFAS-accredited providers of student accommodation, such as the Feenstra Group and others. Providers of student beds want this allowance to be increased to better match actual market prices. Studies by the Private Student Housing Association, where Pieter serves on the Board, show that if this gap is fixed, the student housing shortage in South Africa can be solved quickly.
