Tip #1 If you plan to tow a 5th wheel trailer with a short wheel base truck you should consider a slider hitch. A slider hitch helps improve maneuverability and prevents the front of the 5th wheel trailer from hitting the rear of the truck’s cab when making sharp turns. Tip #2 Depending on the height of the trailer it may be necessary to use a ball mount with a drop or rise, to help level the trailer when it’s hitched to the tow vehicle. Adjustable ball mounts allow the ball to be raised, lowered or tilted to compensate for trailer tongue weight and to attain proper hitch adjustments. Talk to your local RV dealer about proper hitch work for your application..
