Below is a list of some accomplishments and current projects Faculty Senate is working on since we submitted our last report: • The Executive Committee has hosted two faculty forums regarding a potential reorganization between the University Libraries and the School of Graduate Studies and Research. A survey is also being used to collect additional information and feedback to supplement the open forum feedback. The Executive Committee proposed, and the Senate passed, a resolution against sexual violence, sexual harassment, and gender discrimination at Central Washington University. Additionally, the Executive Committee is currently constructing a proposal to create a taskforce to empower faculty to stand against sexual victimization, harassment and discrimination at the institution. • The Curriculum Committee reviewed a total of 350 pieces of curriculum so far in 2017-18. This included 6 new programs, 22 program changes, 7 program deletions, 143 new courses, 10 special topic courses, 156 course changes, and 6 courses/programs put on reserve. The committee has been working with the General Education Committee and the Executive Committee regarding the General Education Program change. The General Education Program change is currently being reviewed by this committee. The committee is working on policy and procedure regarding variable prefix courses, variable topic courses, and dedicated numbering for the General Education Program First-Year Experience course. • The Academic Affairs Committee has multiple policies and procedures that are currently going through the approval process. CWUP 5-90-050 Graduation Requirements for Bachelor’s Degrees has been revised to include better clarification for GPA calculations and distinction/honors for students. The UNIV 101 course was not included with the new General Education program framework and is being changed to a graduation requirement for students to continue to help students acclimate to the college transition.
