Quarter 3 | 2025

Dear Colleagues,

The third quarter of 2025 has been nothing short of extraordinary. I’m proud to witness the passion, teamwork, and brilliance that define our Shangri-La and Traders family a quarter filled with celebration, impact, and shared success.

We began the quarter by honouring the heart of our success, Colleagues Appreciation Week was a joyful reminder of the passion and dedication that each of you brings to our hotels every day. We also marked our 16th anniversary, a milestone that reflects our enduring legacy of excellence and heartfelt hospitality. From International Youth Day to our Interns and Emiratis Engagement initiatives, we reaffirmed our commitment to nurturing future leaders and empowering local talent. Our spirit of togetherness radiated throughout the quarter, with heartfelt initiatives that brought purpose and joy to our community. The Operation Smile Charity Book Sale showcased our compassion in action, while Ladies Run 2025 energized us with a celebration of wellness, empowerment, and unity. We also proudly honoured International Housekeeping Week across both Shangri-La and Traders a sincere salute to our behind-the-scenes stars whose dedication ensures every guest experience is exceptional. This quarter, our team earned global recognition with Shang Palace and Afya ranked among the top 10% of restaurants worldwide, a stellar 94.6% OSHMS audit score, top global placement in the SLC competition, and Al Midhyaf service excellence award from Department of Culture & Tourism for both the hotels.

Shangri-La ranked 2 nd regionally and 6 th globally, while Traders secured 5 th regionally and 18 th globally out of 102 hotels. Our YTD Balanced Scorecard soared to 83.3 (+4.0) for Shangri-La and 75.7 (+1.3) for Traders a powerful testament to your drive, excellence and teamwork.

As we look ahead to the final quarter of the year, with Bordeau and Amalfi reopening let us carry this momentum forward. Let’s continue to inspire, innovate, and elevate every experience for our guests, our community, and one another.

Lobby Lounge Manager Meet Our

Renie began her journey in the hospitality industry in 2012, shortly after moving to London, starting out as a breakfast server. Since then, she has built a diverse career while completing a degree in International Hotel Management. As part of her university internship, she joined Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, where she spent three years developing her skills within the company. Over the years, Renie has worked with renowned hospitality brands including Meliá Hotels International, LXR by Hilton, and Marriott International. She has played key roles in four hotel openings and held positions such as Guest Relations Manager in Front Office.

More recently, Renie transitioned into Finance, where she has taken on responsibilities across Income Audit, Accounts Payable, and General Cashiering, in addition to training new team members.

Outside of work, Renie enjoys discovering new restaurants, traveling, and occasionally slowing down with a good book outdoors. She also keeps active through yoga, walking, and gym workouts, and believes in maintaining a healthy balance between fitness, food, and social outings with friends.

Shang Palace Manager Meet Our

Teh Cheng Keong (CK) joins with more than 10 years of progressive experience in food and beverage operations across Malaysia’s leading luxury hotels. Most recently serving as F&B Manager at Hotel Indigo Kuala Lumpur on the Park, he has built strong expertise in managing multi-outlet operations, financial planning, and guest experience enhancement. CK began his career at Hatten Hotel Melaka and later advanced through managerial roles at Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, contributing to renowned venues such as Shang Palace, Lemon Garden Café, Lobby Lounge, and Lafite. His background spans Chinese cuisine, international buffets, French fine dining, and contemporary lounge service, where he played a key role in elevating service standards and driving revenue growth. A graduate of Taylor’s University with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Hospitality and Tourism Management, CK also holds the WSET Level 2 Award in Wine & Spirit and has completed the Emerging Leader’s Program. Fluent in Mandarin, English, and Malay, with proficiency in French, he is known for his strong leadership, cross-cultural team management, and passion for service excellence—particularly in fine dining and Chinese cuisine.

Colleagues Appreciation Week

We rolled out the red carpet for our incredible team during Colleagues Appreciation Week a full seven days of gratitude, laughter, and connection!

From friendly competitions that brought out everyone’s playful side to a heartwarming breakfast with our night shift stars, the week was packed with moments that reminded us why our colleagues are truly the heartbeat of our success. We wrapped up the festivities with a dazzling recognition ceremony, spotlighting outstanding team members across various categories. Cheers to the champions of excellence and to every colleague who makes our workplace extraordinary!

Celebrating 16 Wonderful Years of Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi!

In celebration of a remarkable milestone, we marked the 16th anniversary of Traders Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri, Abu Dhabi with a memorable gathering held in the hotel lobby.

The event brought together colleagues, guests, and friends of the hotel to reflect on 16 years of hospitality excellence, growth, and shared achievements. It was a joyful occasion filled with gratitude, connection, and a strong sense of pride in how far we've come.

This celebration not only honoured our past but also looked ahead with excitement toward continued success and innovation in the years to come.

International Youth Day Interns and Emiratis Engagement

The initiative was designed to inspire and equip young talent with industry knowledge, practical skills, and professional mentorship.

Emirati colleagues shared personal experiences from their professional journeys, highlighting career development opportunities and the importance of cultural understanding in hospitality.

Additional activities included skill-building workshops to foster teamwork and creativity, as well as a collaborative engagement with a local youth organization. The day concluded with an abra boat ride in partnership with Redwood Nursery, offering a unique cultural experience along Abu Dhabi’s waterways.

The event underscored Shangri-la and Traders continued commitment to youth empowerment, Emiratisation, and the development of future leaders in the hospitality sector.

Celebrating Our Champions at the Ladies Run 2025!

Our amazing female colleagues laced up and lit up the track at the Ladies Run 2025 at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi! Their participation radiated spirit, strength, and unstoppable teamwork.

A huge round of applause to Clarita Mejias for clinching 1st place in the 10KM race what a phenomenal achievement!

To all our runners: thank you for inspiring us with your energy, commitment, and fierce determination. You’ve made us proud!

This International Housekeeping Week, we proudly celebrated the heart of our hotel our incredible Housekeeping team with a full week of appreciation, fun, and recognition! From exciting activities to heartfelt moments of gratitude, the week was a vibrant tribute to the behind-the-scenes stars who keep our spaces spotless and our guests smiling. Your attention to detail, dedication, and thoughtful touches ensure every stay feels like home. Thank you for your passion, commitment, and teamwork—you truly make us shine brighter every day. You are the pride of our hotel!

Celebrating International Housekeeping Week at Traders

Celebrated International Housekeeping Week with a series of engaging activities designed to recognize and appreciate our dedicated housekeeping colleagues. The celebrations featured back-of-house decorations, specially designed T-shirts, a cake- cutting ceremony, team outings, fun games, and a CSR initiative through wall frame painting. Colleagues guest engagement and appreciation activities, followed by a shared meal and a memorable group photo. also participated in The week created a spirit of unity and enjoyment, highlighting the invaluable contributions of our housekeeping team.

Stronger Together Through Health and Awareness

As part of Migraine Awareness Week, we hosted an awareness session with Dr. Nibras, Family Medicine, who shared expert knowledge on managing migraines.

To complement the session, Jeffrey from Chi, The Spa conducted a massage demonstration, offering colleagues practical stress-relief techniques.

This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering a workplace culture that prioritizes health, balance, and holistic wellbeing.

Operation Smile UAE Charity Book Sale

A huge shout-out to our incredible colleagues who kicked off the Charity Book Sale with unstoppable energy, teamwork, and heart! Thanks to our passionate volunteers, the event launched with great success and a shared mission: every book sold helps fund life-changing cleft surgeries for children in need. This initiative will support 18 free surgeries, plus comprehensive care for others, all led by the dedicated Operation Smile UAE medical team. It’s a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together—bringing hope, healing, and brighter futures through the simple act of giving.

Here’s to the collective spirit that drives meaningful change—making a lasting impact, one smile at a time!

Moments of Joy – Kung Fu Panda Edition

Last quarter, the Moments of Joy (MOJ) was brought to life by our epic high-kicking Front Office team with Kung Fu Panda spirit and joyful series of fun and memorable activities for everyone. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, excitement, and, at times, a touch of friendly tension during the more competitive actions. It was a wonderful opportunity to come together, celebrate our team spirit, and create a lasting memories that reflect the vibrant culture of our workplace.

Celebrating Our Shared Success Shangri-La Circle and TripAdvisor

On 30 September 2025, we gathered for a special lunch to honour the incredible achievements of our team. The spotlight shone brightly on our Rooms and Food & Beverage Division, who topped the SLC Enrolment & Redemption Competition globally —a true testament to their dedication and drive!

We also celebrated the prestigious TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Awards 2025 , with Shang Palace recognized for its outstanding hospitality and unforgettable guest experiences.

The afternoon was filled with pride, laughter, and reflection as colleagues from both properties came together to celebrate shared success and the unwavering spirit of Shangri-La service.

World Wellness Weekend

The highlight of the celebration was two energizing sessions Zumba and Stretching led by Jeffrey and Ilori, whose enthusiasm and positivity created an uplifting atmosphere for all participants.

The sessions not only promoted fitness but also strengthened camaraderie among colleagues, encouraging everyone to adopt healthy habits in their daily routines. By actively participating in World Wellness Weekend.

Excellence Recognized In Occupational Health and Safety Standards

We are proud to announce that SLAD have achieved an outstanding 94.57% in the 2025 Department of Culture and Tourism - Occupation Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS) Sector Regulatory Authority Audit. The OSHMS is an initiative developed by Abu Dhabi Government since 2006 with aim of addressing and controlling all risks arising from various activities and to manage all aspects related to occupational health and safety at workplaces.

Congratulations to all departments for their dedication, teamwork and consistent efforts in upholding the safety.

Excellence in Service : Al Midhyaf Recognition

We are delighted to share that both Shangri-La and Traders Hotel have received the prestigious Al Midhyaf Frontliner Service Excellence Code of Conduct recognition, celebrating our instrumental role in delivering world-class service within the Abu Dhabi hospitality sector. The Al Midhyaf award embodies the essence of true Emirati hospitality, welcoming guests with generosity, dignity, and warmth. This recognition highlights our ongoing commitment to aligning cultural authenticity with an unwavering focus on customer experience. Among the award recipients, Shangri-La stood out as one of the top-performing hotels, demonstrating exceptional dedication to service excellence. This achievement reflects our team’s tireless efforts to create memorable guest experiences that capture the authenticity of Emirati hospitality. Additionally, we are delighted to announce that two of our outstanding colleagues, Rey Anthony Capon and Candyd Borja received individual honours as ‘The Captain’ and the ‘Winning Frontliner’ for the hotel. The award was presented by Director General Tourism – His Excellency Saleh Algeziry.

We are thrilled to share that Aman Trivedi has been recognized in the prestigious Caterer Bartenders Power List MENA 2025, celebrating the top 50 bartenders across the region.

Aman’s passion, creativity, and dedication at Al Hanah Bar have been nothing short of inspiring. This recognition is a proud moment for all of us, as his name stands among the best talents in the region. This year’s Bartenders Power List 2025, powered by Lyre’s and PATRÓN, received hundreds of nominations, with a select panel of industry experts carefully curating the final list of the region’s top 50 bartenders.

Shangri-la and Traders proudly supported the EEG ‘One Root, One Communi-tree’ project

We’re proud to have joined hands with EEG in the inspiring ‘One Root, One Communi-tree’ project, contributing paper, glass bottles, and plastic to support its sustainability goals.

Phase 1 united families, schools, public institutions, and corporate partners in a powerful push to reduce waste and combat climate change. Together, our efforts will soon blossom into the planting of indigenous trees through the “For Our Emirates We Plant” campaign.

This initiative reflects our deep commitment to environmental stewardship and a greener tomorrow—for our community, our nation, and our planet.

Shangri-La Abu Dhabi Supports UAE’s Zero Food Waste Vision Shangri-La Abu Dhabi is proud to support the UAE’s national efforts to reduce food waste through its partnership with the One Million Surplus Meals campaign—an initiative by the UAE Food Bank in collaboration with ne’ma, the National Food Loss and Waste Initiative, and ReLoop App as technology partner. As part of this collaboration, the hotel contributes to redistributing surplus food and recycling food waste, in line with the nation’s Zero Food Waste goal. Additionally, the launch of the “No Bin” initiative in the colleague restaurant encourages mindful consumption and reinforces a culture of sustainability within our hotel community.

A Taste of Excellence Patrón & Grey Goose Training Session

An insightful training session was held on 3 July, led by Sahil Chauhan, offering colleagues an engaging dive into the world of Patrón Tequila and Grey Goose Vodka. Participants discovered the craftsmanship, heritage, and distinct characteristics that make these premium spirits truly exceptional. From understanding their meticulous production process to savoring their refined flavors, the session combined education with an appreciation for the art of fine mixology.

Fire Fighting Training Glimpses from the Basic Fire Fighting Training conducted at Gulf Technical and Safety Training Center. The session provided participants with the basic skills and knowledge to respond safely in case of a fire.
