THE ENROLLMENT IMPACT… PLAN NOW Here’s the part we don’t say out loud enough. Strong, credible CTE draws families. When a school can point to real outcomes (industry certs, apprenticeships, alumni who come back with pay stubs and pride) families pay attention. Eighth-grade parents lean in. High school students stay engaged. Attendance improves because the work feels connected to a life they can picture. That shows up in enrollment… and in retention. If a full expansion isn’t possible this year, planning still is. Decide which pathway you can stand up with fidelity next year. Maybe you will confirm one anchor partner and start telling the story now. Small moves, early messaging. By the time recruitment season hits, your community will know exactly what CTE means at your school. THE STORY WE TELL… MATTERS Some students light up when they can see the product of their work… a motor running… a system back online… a client in a chair. For them, a clear trade pathway can be the reason they stay. For others, it sits alongside athletics or AP classes as a genuine draw. Either way, it belongs in the conversation. Let’s stop selling only one future. Bring trades back to the table… not as a fallback, but as another way forward. If we do our part… build the partnerships, protect the time, and tell the truth about outcomes… families will see what we see. A pathway with dignity, skill, real opportunity… and yes, better enrollment.
