Welcome to Segra Park, home of the Columbia Fireflies!
Thank you for choosing to join us at the ballpark for some fun during the 2024 season! We are excited for what promises to be another great season of memories being made at the ballpark. Since 2016 we have welcomed over 1.4 million fans to the ballpark for Fireflies games and over 250,000 guests for other events. Without you, the best fans in all Minor League Baseball, none of this would be possible. We are so grateful for your loyal support of the Columbia Fireflies. The 2022 season was a return to normalcy for us in many ways. We moved into the new normal with a 132-game season and 66 home games. It was also our first season as a member of the Carolina League and our young team continually improved throughout the season and after a tough first half of the season was able to finish in second place of the South Division in the second half. We are excited to see these young Kansas City Royals prospects compete again in 2024! Our “off-season” was full of excitement as well with our second year of Fireflies Holiday Lights. Over one million lights decorated Segra Park for the holiday season and over 20,000 guests joined us to enjoy the show. Fireflies Holiday Lights is an event that we will host annually and will get bigger and better every year. If you didn’t get a chance to join us last year, please stay tuned for tickets to go on sale this fall! No matter what happens on the field, we strive to make sure that every Fireflies game is a great experience from the moment you park your car until you drive away at the end of a great night. We have a fantastic team of full-time staff and gameday employees who are here to serve you while you are spending time with us at the ballpark. FAN CODE OF CONDUCT The Columbia Fireflies are committed to creating a family-friendly and welcoming environment at the ballpark for all guests. As part of that commitment, we have adopted this written policy addressing fan behavior. The policy includes a Fan Code of Conduct, which is fan- facing and describes how fans are expected to behave. Fan Code of Conduct: In order to provide a welcoming experience for all, the Columbia Fireflies have implemented a Fan Code of Conduct. Out of respect for fellow guests, players, coaches, and ballpark staff, all guests are prohibited from: • Trespassing on the playing field at any time; • Interfering with baseballs that are in play; • Throwing or tossing objects; • Using foul, obscene or derogatory language (see below) or gestures; • Misusing or overconsuming alcohol, including, underage consumption; • Behaving in a manner that is disruptive, unruly, or abusive; • Accessing areas of the ballpark without a proper ticket, pass, or credential; • Misusing tickets, passes, or credentials in any way; or • Bringing prohibited items into the ballpark. • Only service dogs are allowed (outside of “Dog Days”) Derogatory language is defined as offensive language concerning a person’s race, ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or national origin, and anyone using such language is subject to automatic ejection from the ballpark. Violations of the Fan Code of Conduct will not be tolerated and may lead to ejection from the ballpark, a ban on attending future games, or other consequences. Guests who are found to have used derogatory language will be ejected from the ballpark. Guests are encouraged to report violations of the Fan Code of Conduct to the nearest ballpark staff member. This can be done in person, at the nearest Guest Services location, directly with Ballpark Security or by venuesafety@columbiafireflies.com.

A Winding Road Sets Up Record Opportunities By John Kocsis Jr.
April 8, 2022 an outfielder who was rated by Baseball America and MLB.com as one of the Kansas City Royals’ top prospects was placed in the Fireflies Opening Day lineup at Segra Park. Prior to the start of the season, media lined up in a scrum around the Santo Domingo native to learn more about his sweet swing.
Scouts said his swing reminded them of Carlos Beltran—that’s no small praise. Beltran played 20 years in the show and launched 435 homers. On his journey, he won a World Series and received nine All-Star nods. It wasn’t just words from scouts either. Erick Peña signed a $3,897,500 contract with the Royals in 2019-2020, as he was ranked the fifth-best International prospect in that signing period. MLB.com scouts graded him with a 50 hit tool and a 55 power tool on the 20-80 scale. The impact he made was immediate. On Opening Night 2022, Peña smoked a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth, the first of a few walk-off blasts he would hit in the neon and navy. 6,186 fans cheered as the Fireflies scored seven unanswered behind four Peña RBI to earn their first win of the season. Here we are, two years and a month later and the journey has been a windy one for the outfielder. Peña finished the 2022 season hitting .149 in 82 games. He clubbed nine homers, but struck out 121 times in the process, so he rejoined Columbia for another chance to find his groove in 2023. The next year, there was less fanfare for the coming of the outfielder. This time, the focus for media and the fans watching Columbia was some wild pitching climbing its way through the system. The club had the best ERA in all of Minor League Baseball in the first half of the season and that opening things up for the Fireflies to try to make their first playoff run in franchise history. 2023 saw some firsts for Pena too. He had his first multi-homer game in another big comeback win for the Fireflies May 3 against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. One of his two homers counted as his second walk-off bomb in his Fireflies career. Peña saw an increase in power as he launched 10 homers in his second season in the Soda City. It was another big strikeout season for Peña who punched out 153 times in 75 games, but he saw positive growth, increasing his on-base percentage by 18 points year-over-year and drawing six additional walks in seven fewer games year-over-year. It all set up a chance at history in the 2024 season. The outfielder started the season with 19 homers, comfortably in third place in franchise history, chasing all-time Fireflies homer leader Dash Winningham by six homers. Winningham played for Columbia in 2016 and 2017 when the team was affiliated with the

with the New York Mets. Then, the Fireflies best single-season power hitter Juan Carlos Negret sits in second with 23 round trippers. Negret played for Columbia in 2021 and he launched a new era of Fireflies baseball into existence setting a Fireflies single- season record for homers to welcome the Royals into town. Peña came out of the gates hot this season. Smashing four homers to the tune of a .240 average and a .321 on-base percentage in 20 games in April. That put him tied with
Negret for second-most homers in franchise history—just a pair of round trippers behind Winningham. Peña has been particularly good in the friendly confines this season, slashing .279/.380/.558 in 12 games at Segra Park and .163/.217/.256 in 11 games on the road so far. With 13 opportunities to hit a pair of homers with the team at Segra Park to tie Winningham for the most all-time. The opportunity seems almost too poetic, especially with Copa de la Diversion weekend coming up to close out the homestand. It’s a chance for Peña to represent Los Chiccarones de Columbia and etch his name at the top of the Fireflies record books. Now all that’s left to do is watch it play out. Pack Segra Park with the opportunity to see history against the Salem Red Sox and Charleston RiverDogs these next few weeks. It could all happen at once—he’s hit two homers in a game—or it could be spread across a few games, but what we do know is that every at-bat will bring added excitement to the field as we wait to experience something for the first time in Fireflies history.
