My engineering career has been fuelled by a passion for building reliable, high- performance networks and a belief that true success is never achieved alone. I have many years’ experience working on HFC, fibre and DOCSIS-based networks, working on service quality, network stability and proactive fault resolution. One of the most rewarding parts of my role, apart from the technical stuff, has been leading and supporting engineering teams. SCTE Technological Innovation of the Year 2026 Technetix Mira ORCA bandwidth overlay solution

Technetix received their award at the SCTE’s 81st Gala Dinner, held at the House of Commons on June 20. The recognition provided by SCTE’s Technical Innovation award affirms and deepens the company’s commitment to helping broadband operators deploy high- performance, future-ready networks more efficiently and sustainably. The team remains focused on expanding the Technetix Mira portfolio of fibre access solutions, for a faster, more practical, and more accessible journey towards fibre.”
The Mira ORCA is a bandwidth overlay solution for multi-gigabit services over existing infrastructure, which launched last year. The resource-saving, quick- to-market approach to ‘impossible’ network modernisation programmes was developed in response to demand for low-disruption HFC-to-XGS-PON migration pathways. Technetix’ VP Customer Insight and Product Innovation, Ade Brittain, says, “ORCA solves some of the most persistent operator challenges in transitions to next-generation fibre.” He explains that delays and inflated costs from logistical, access-related, and bureaucratic snags are typical, ranging from entry permission issues to hazardous material handling. “ORCA uses existing infrastructure. This not only supports a more sustainable and commercially attractive path to multi- gigabit services, it addresses chronic challenges and accelerates deployment,”

But this was next- level: if they didn’t already know their winning solution will rewrite the industry’s HFC-to-XGS-PON playbook, this was a moment of realisation.
