CHECK OUT THESE GREAT AQUATIC LOCATIONS IN CENTRAL FLORIDA Need to Cool Down This Summer?
It gets pretty hot and humid in central Florida, especially during the late summer months. Whenever the weather heats up like this, we quickly run to our local pool in an effort to cool down. Thankfully, we live in an area with many beautiful beaches and other places if you don’t have an easily accessible pool. So, here’s a list of some of my favorite places to go when I need to refresh and relax! FLORIDA’S SPRINGS When people visit central Florida, they usually have their eyes set on our major amusement parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, or SeaWorld. If they aren’t going to an amusement park, they’re probably heading to the beach, which makes our springs some of the best-kept secrets in our area. Most of the springs contain water at a perfect temperature in the mid-70s, which makes them incredibly refreshing. Possibly the most popular springs in Central Florida are located at Blue Spring State Park. You can do everything from kayaking and canoeing to scuba diving there. If you’re looking for somewhere that’s a little less busy but still offers a great swimming experience in a beautiful setting, you can check out Rainbow Springs State Park, which is just north of Orlando. It’s another great place to swim, kayak, or just take in some of the wonderful scenery. THEMED WATER PARKS If you’re looking for something a little more thrilling or if you need something exciting for the kids, you can always check out some of the amazing water parks in the area. You can head over to Walt Disney World and check out Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Both of these parks offer great food and thrills within a beautiful environment. If you go to Blizzard Beach, make sure you check out Summit Plummet, which is one of the world’s fastest free-fall waterslides. If you’re interested in seeing a truly unique water park, take a trip over to Universal’s Volcano Bay. The entire water park is situated around a volcano, and many of the slides run through it. It’s a cool experience for kids and adults alike. You can also check out Aquatica Orlando if you’re
in the mood for some of the best waterslides in the country. Some of their slides will even take you through an enclosed underwater habitat that’s home to sharks and dolphins. THE BEACHES We’re blessed to have so many wonderful beaches in our state, and some of the best are only a short drive away. If you’re looking for a calm beach environment that provides an opportunity to ride some waves or learn how to surf, you can head to Cocoa Beach. If you’re looking for something even more secluded, you can check out the Canaveral National
Seashore. Both of these locations are great if you want to take a dip in the water or float around on a kayak. If you’re looking for a beach that’s a little livelier, you can always visit Daytona Beach or Clearwater Beach. These beaches offer fun experiences for everyone in your family. I’m always on the lookout for new places to explore in central Florida so if you know of a must-visit aquatic spot in our area, please share it with me!

5 Patriotic Movies the Family Will Love AMERICA ON THE SILVER SCREEN
“You’re killin’ me, Smalls!” is probably what you will say to your kiddo when they say they haven’t watched “The Sandlot.” You may even discover they haven’t seen many America-themed classics! So, we have just the lineup for your next family movie night. In the spirit of Independence Day, check out these family-friendly American movie favorites. ‘THE SANDLOT’ An obvious choice but a good one, “The Sandlot” follows a group of neighborhood kids in the 1960s who gather at the local baseball diamond to play ball. It chronicles the feeling of summertime freedom, the gut-wrenching fear of local legends, the awkwardness of first crushes, and the true meaning of friendship. Plus, that Fourth of July scene will have the family in stitches! ‘NATIONAL TREASURE’ You may be surprised to learn that “National Treasure” is an action-packed movie with a PG rating! Loaded with
history, the movie follows a passionate historian and a team of unlikely heroes as they search for a hidden treasure, and the location has been written on the back of the Declaration of Independence. (Be sure to check out the sequel, too, and the third movie, which is slated for a 2022 release.) ‘AN AMERICAN TAIL’ Follow Fievel the Russian mouse as he immigrates to America with his family in 1885. With action and anxiety-inducing antics, “An American Tail” provides younger children with history and a glimpse at the beauty of the American Dream. Plus, it’s nostalgia fodder for their parents, who likely grew up with Fievel and his family! ‘A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN’ Packed with Hollywood stars, “A League of Their Own” is inspired by the All- American Girls Professional Baseball League. Created in the depths of World War II, the league ran for 12 seasons. In
the movie, two sisters must find a way to overcome their personal differences to make their baseball league a standout sport. (If you enjoy the movie, be sure to watch Amazon’s TV series!) ‘MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON’ This is one black-and-white film your politically active teens may enjoy. When Jefferson Smith becomes a U.S. senator, he’s taken under the wing of Senator John Paine, but Smith soon learns Paine has more nefarious ambitions. In the film, your family will see Congress in action — and a little ribbing, too!

Changes to Your Homeowners Insurance Policy
How often do you review your homeowners insurance policy? It’s recommended that you review your policy at least once a year when it’s time for renewal. Before auto-renewing with your current policy, you should be sure to review your deductibles and coverage to see if there are any changes while also comparing your current rate and coverage with other insurance companies. You should also review your insurance policy whenever you make any updates on the home and when you experience major lifestyle changes. If you haven’t reviewed your insurance policy at some point in the last few months, now is the perfect opportunity. Recent legislation could change your deductibles, and it’s important that you’re aware. In late May, lawmakers moved forward with a plan in an effort to improve and stabilize the state’s troubled property-insurance market.
Part of the bill would allow insurance policies to include new deductibles for roof damage. The deductible amounts would be 2% of the overall insured value of homes or 50% of the costs to replace roofs. That being said, deductibles would not be charged on things such as roof damage caused by hurricanes or situations where a tree has fallen and punctured a roof. While many lawmakers felt that this would be a beneficial change for both policymakers and policyholders, Senator Bobby Powell questioned whether many of Florida’s homeowners could even afford the deductibles if they had roof damage. According to estimates from Zillow, the average value of a home in Florida is $388,635, so the average deductible amount would be over $7,500. Only time will tell what impact these new deductibles will have on Florida homeowners.

Oceanside Activities to Try This Summer

THERE’S MORE THAN WAVES AND SAND Oceanside Activities the Entire Family Can Enjoy
The summer season is officially underway and many Americans are planning to take a trip to the beach to celebrate the occasion. If you’re going on a family vacation to the ocean for an extended period of time, you may be worried about keeping everyone entertained. That’s why we put together a list of some of our favorite oceanside activities to try this summer. Your summer vacation will be filled with fun and excitement after trying some of these great activities! GET ACTIVE. There’s nothing more relaxing than sitting on the beach and listening to the calm repetition of the waves, but maybe you want a little more
excitement by the ocean. If that’s the case, there are plenty of sports to try. You can bring a football and throw it around in the water or on the beach. You can buy a net and set up a game of beach volleyball to get everyone involved, or you can try one of the many new beachside sports hitting the market like TidalBall, pickleball, and Spikeball. TidalBall is the beach version of cornhole, so if you haven’t played it yet, you definitely want to check it out. EXPERIENCE NATURE. The wildlife and environment of the beach are most likely drastically different from what you can experience back home, so make an effort to see all you can. At many beaches,
you’ll be able to see dolphins, whales, and sea rays from the shore. You can also look in the sand for crabs and small crustaceans. By simply standing still and taking in all of the sights and sounds of the ocean, you’ll gain a greater appreciation for the surroundings. RIDE THE WAVES. You don’t need to be an experienced surfer to venture into the water on a board. Of course, you can take surfing lessons at many beaches, but you can also get in the water on a bodyboard for a thrilling experience. Additionally, you can rent kayaks or paddleboards if you want to be on the water, but not necessarily in it.
