T HE introduction of the Buyers* Guide and Classified Depart ment of the KING’S BUSINESS is a forward step in the advertising program of this magazine. The new department is intended to fill a long-felt need. First, it furnishes a convenient monthly directory, where, at ridiculously low cost, products and advertisers acceptable to thousands of Christian readers are seen at a glance; and sec ond, it provides for the mobilization and the direction of the buying power of this vast clientele. LOW-COST PUBLICITY Classified and indexed listings will be offered in the KING’S BUSINESS at the low rate of five cents a word. The minimum size of such an advertisement will be thirty words, including address. The total minimum cost, therefore, will be $ 1.50 per issue on a 12-months’ schedule, or $ 18 .0 0 a year. For this minimum annual expenditure, the advertiser reaps the benefit of an estimated aggregate circulation of 3 60 ,0 00 copies— 3 0,0 0 0 monthly. In this way, 3 6 0 ,0 0 0 or more readers can be reached by the advertiser at an average cost of ONLY FIVE CENTS for every 1,000 buyers contacted. TO MEET SPECIFIC NEEDS There are scores of definite needs of every family, church, or Christian organization, and these requirements easily lend themselves to classification. A carefully tabulated listing of these commodities and services is of untold value to the busy pastor, church worker, or householder. The list becomes the purchaser’s counselor and guide. O f course, the new Buyers* Guide and Classified Department is not intended to take the place of the long-established general advertising section of the KING’S BUSINESS. The pages open to general advertising provide for excellent display, which is not possible in limited space. BOX LISTINGS In addition to the minimum lineage classification of thirty words or more, box listings of one-half inch or one inch are available at the rate of $ 2.0 0 and $4.00, respectively. TERMS OF PAYMENT Owing to the detail required in the handling of this new department, all listings must be taken for a period of not less
than three months. From the advertiser’s point of view, annual listings are, of course, the most desirable, since such contracts are subject to a five per cent discount when paid in advance. The following table will show the plan of payment for classified advertisements of various sizes. In order to avoid delay in insertion, remittances covering a period of at least three months must accompany all mail orders.
