CHARITY EVENT

LED BY TV PRESENTER ADRIAN LOGAN AND LEGEND SNOOKER PLAYER DENNIS TAYLOR, THE EVENT RAISED MUCH-NEEDED FUNDS TO ASSIST CHARITY EIC IN THEIR AMAZING WORK IN NORTHERN IRELAND… Electric Lunch 2023 a tremendous success

T his year’s edition of the Industries Charity (EIC) was attended by almost 300 people and raised an incredible £24,000! The 2023 Electrical Lunch was held on February 3 at the Europa Hotel, in Belfast. Once more, the fun-filled afternoon was hosted by TV presenter Adrian Logan, who welcomed this year’s special guest: legend snooker player Dennis Taylor, “The Man from Coalisland”. Dennis is best known for winning the 1985 traditional event in aid of the NI branch of the Electrical World Snooker Championship when he defeated the defending champion, Steve Davis, in a final widely recognised as one of the most famous matches in professional snooker history. The guests were in for great craic, with Dennis sharing hilarious stories with Logie. They had the opportunity to win fabulous prizes in the raffle, which were provided by the sponsors of the event. The prizes included holiday vouchers, a PlayStation 5, a smart EV charger, Ulster Rugby tickets and a day out at the exclusive Malone Golf Club. Logie also led a sports trivia quiz for the prize of a

stay for two at the Europa Hotel along with a £100 gift card. One of the high points of the afternoon was the auction of a snooker cue and case signed by Dennis, which was snatched for £900. Everyone enjoyed the superb food and great entertainment while raising much-needed funds to assist the EIC in their amazing work in Northern Ireland. The charity has been in existence for over 100 years and offers support to anyone who works in the electrical industry, including you, your colleagues and customers and their families who may be going through challenging times. It is crucial to get the word out there and let the sector know that there is help and support provided by the EIC. They support those who need help to overcome problems with alcohol or substance addictions as well as mental health issues. The EIC also offers help to people in the industry with family or relationship problems, financial or legal worries and ill health or disabilities. If you are looking for help or would like to know more about fundraising, please contact Karen McAvoy, EIC NI Chair at karen@kmpltd.co.uk or T: 07771 524 470.
