The AEW is delighted to announce the second edition of its biannual awards lunch, which celebrates and rewards both the businesses and the individuals who excel at the WEEE recycling initiative and the staff training programme. The event will be held at the Clayton Hotel Liffey Valley in Dublin on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, and awards will be presented to the best performers over a 12-month period from April 1st, 2023 to March 31, 2024. The inaugural AEW Awards Lunch, in 2022, was a great opportunity for all electrical wholesalers across the country to come together and renew old relationships, which had been sadly interrupted by the Covid pandemic. The association comprises six member groups, including CEF, EWL Electric, Celebrating excellence

The Association of Electrical Wholesalers (AEW) has recently added another two online modules – wiring devices and controls and renewables – to its staff training programme, bringing the total number of online modules now available to eight, with the other four modules due to come online shortly. All 12 modules can still be ordered in hard copy format at £130 each, but the online modules are only £99 each and the AEW anticipate that demand will now switch to the online versions to avail of this great value. The AEW sources these modules from the Electrical Distributors Association (EDA) in the UK and successful students receive a City & Guilds certificate with a pass, credit or distinction grade. “This training programme is the ideal way to upskill your staff, as it provides them with the opportunity to self- learn in the comfort and safety of their own homes or at their workplaces”, commented AEW administrator Ken Legros. “The addition of online modules makes it even easier and the AEW encourages all members and their staff to avail of this opportunity to improve their product knowledge”, Ken concluded. Fegime Ireland, IEBG, Kellihers and independent wholesalers. All six member groups received two WEEE Recycling Awards, a “Best Performing Branch”, and a “Most Improved Branch”. Similarly, they all received two “Staff Training Awards”, a winner and a runner-up. “As it was an inaugural event for the AEW, it was important to do it properly and to create the right impression from the outset. So, we invested heavily in the room set-up, the audio-visual show and a professional presentation, which really paid off,” said Ken Legros. “It was evident that everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and we hope to repeat this success in the next AEW Awards Lunch in 2024.”
