THE TRADITIONAL RACING EVENT PROMOTED BY THE CHARITY RAISED AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT TO SUPPORT MEMBERS OF THE ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY WHO MAY BE FACING DIFFICULT TIMES… Big win for IEBA at Day at the Races

T he Day at the Races promoted by the Irish Electrical Benevolent Association (IEBA) opened the charity’s 2023 calendar in style. The event was held on February 5 at the Leopardstown Racecourse, during the second day of the Dublin Racing Festival. The Day at the Races raised over €11,000 to offer practical help and support to people in need within the electrical industry. While the jockeys battled for first place on the podium, the 224 guests enjoyed a superb menu and competed for amazing raffle prizes, which alone raised €3,200. They included a 43’’ Smart TV, a 14’’ laptop, a cordless vacuum cleaner and a Nespresso coffee machine, all donated by Expert Electrical. Raffle tickets also sold out quickly for two Premium level access tickets for the Longines Irish Champions, donated by the Leopardstown Racecourse, and a €200 Dundrum Shopping Centre voucher, kindly offered by Derrywood Agencies and Distributors. Ireland’s Electrical Magazine sponsored the prosecco reception. IEBA’s next events include the Annual Golf Day at the Killeen Castle Golf

Resort in May (see box), and the Charity Ball, which will take place at the InterContinental Dublin Hotel, in November. The work undertaken by the IEBA is ongoing and growing every year, and the charity cannot survive without assistance from its members and trade partners. So why not get creative and organise a fundraising activity? IEBA is seeking help from companies to host their own fun-filled events. This can be anything from coffee mornings, cycling events, sponsored runs, triathlons, golf events, and more. In-house fundraising is a great opportunity to get your colleagues together for the perfect team-building experience, all in aid of a fantastic cause. IEBA was founded in 2001 and has been active in helping many members of the electrical industry, and their families, who have experienced difficulties with bereavement, depression, terminal illness, accidental death, special treatments, or training. The association continues to make a real difference in the lives of electrical industry employees and their families. And with your help, awareness and support, the charity can do a lot more to assist those less fortunate.

Guarantee your place at the Annual IEBA Golf Day 2023, which will be held on Friday, May 12 at the Killeen Castle Golf Resort in Dunsany, Co. Meath. This traditional event sells out quickly, so early booking is recommended. Please contact the IEBA Board members to tee up with fellow golfers in the industry for a great cause. Save the date for the next IEBA event
