Cheatham County Generation Site EIS Scoping Report
Appendix C Summary of Scoping Comments
Tennessee Valley Authority
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the location of the proposed natural gas plant in our rural area and the associated pipeline extension that would traverse our farm. As a concerned resident and landowner, I believe that such a project would have detrimental effects on our community, environment, and quality of life. Furthermore, I would like to suggest an alternative location for the plant that would be more appropriate and less impactful. First and foremost, I firmly believe that the better location for the natural gas plant would be within or near the existing Cheatham County Industrial Park that is already established and is within a quarter of a mile of the existing gas line being used to feed the plant. This industrial park is already equipped with the necessary infrastructure and facilities to support industrial operations, making it a logical choice for such a project. By utilizing this existing industrial park, the need for a new pipeline extending through our rural area can be avoided, thereby minimizing disruption to our community and farmland. Moving the natural gas plant to the industrial park would also mitigate the negative impacts on our rural area. The industrial park is designed to accommodate industrial activities, ensuring that the noise, emissions, and visual aspects associated with the plant would be contained within an appropriate industrial setting. This would preserve the peace and tranquility of our rural community, preventing the industrialization of our scenic landscape and safeguarding the quality of life for local residents. Additionally, locating the natural gas plant in the industrial park aligns with the principles of sustainable development. By utilizing existing infrastructure, resources, and industrial areas, we can minimize the environmental footprint of the project. This approach promotes efficient land use, reduces the need for additional infrastructure development, and optimizes the utilization of existing energy supply networks. I kindly request that the Tennessee Valley Authority seriously considers the suggested alternative location for the natural gas plant within the existing industrial park. By doing so, you would demonstrate a commitment to responsible planning, community concerns, and the efficient use of resources. This alternative would strike a balance between industrial development and the preservation of our rural area, fostering a harmonious coexistence between economic growth and environmental conservation. Thank you for your attention to this matter and for considering my suggestion. I trust that you will give due consideration to the concerns and recommendations raised by the community. Your thoughtful evaluation and decision-making process are crucial in ensuring the long-term well-being and sustainability of our region.

TVA, Please do not come in and destroy family farms that have been farming for generations. Our families worked hard for these farms and are grateful that our younger generations are still willing to care for and work the land. Why would you want to pollute the farms that produce food for our families, and farm animals. Please keep Nashville's dirty, stinky, noisy, polluting plant away from our farms that our families have worked so hard for. It is so wrong to just come in and take our farms that we work to keep, pay taxes on. We're the ones that make our land so precious. TVA needs to find a place closer to the parts of Nashville that would be supported by this plant. It's not benefiting anyone in our area!!! This is just wrong! negative Gale Newton 37015

Consider another site besides a narrow two lane road, near school and creek. Power of immenant domain plans on purchasing land to serve counties besides the county where the plant is located. Plant will adversely affect Cheatham County on so many levels from historical Indian Land, wildlife, natural waterways, infrastructure, air pollution. Methane gas is one of the stinkiest, foulest smells ever. Having lived in New Mexico were methane is a predominate industry, it was brutal to breathe. You are asking land owners and wildlife to breathe that air day and night for the remainder of their lives. Voting NO! negative Diane White 37015 This facility is not needed. There is nothing wrong with the coal plant at cumberland city. The tva should be using All resources including coal for power and abandon the bobo administrations effort to turn the US into a third world country. negative Shaun vanBergen 37015 I have concerns about the plan which will effect the 13 acres of pollinator space at sycamore creek. Our environment is declining rapidly due to construction such as this and we need to conserve as many spaces as we can for our pollinators which are decreasing in numbers. Please consider leaving this space alone or finding another location that will not have a detrimental effect on our local environment. negative Monica Oneill 37035

I’ve lived less than 2 miles from the proposed site my whole life. Right at the end of Sycamore Creek where it meets the Cumberland River, also, on a farm near Lockertsville Rd. My goal is not to bash TVA for their plans to build a power plant close to where I live, but to say in the most nicest way that what I think they’re trying to build is WRONG and shouldn’t be permitted. I, and the people who live here and surrounding areas, don’t deserve having to breathe the pollution this plant will emit from the constant burning of methane gas. This should be illegal! This is harmful to people, wildlife, and the planet. We have way smarter people in this world that could come up with better alternatives than this. Whoever’s idea this was is obviously not living in this area, therefore, doesn’t really care of the consequences that will arise. The pollution entering the water we drink and to the whole entire fish ecosystem is enough alone to shut this down. Why would anyone want to did this is the question? Is it for the money? The worst out of all, is the destroying of personal property that landowners living in the pipeline path will have to endure. Giving up your hard earned land to the government because they have no choice is the absolute saddest thing anyone could ever go through. How could TVA feel good about this when there are other options and better ways that benefit all. You’re smarter than this TVA, you can do better! As an individual who calls this area home, I do not give you permission to build a power plant here in Cheatham County. Speaking for all the individuals who haven’t voiced their comments because they’re just now finding out, we DO NOT give you permission to come take our land and destroy it while polluting our air and water. You have a coal plant in Cumberland City you can use for the burning of methane gas. Not Cheatham County! I understand how the land here would catch your attention, this beautiful area definitely has that affect. We are not for your future plans and ask that you find a better alternative that benefits all.

Hello, I am a resident of Cheatham County and a frequenter of Sycamore Creek and I am honestly disturbed by the news of the potential power plant on the creek. I understand the needs of the electrical grid and the challenges we face, but to risk the health of a nationally registered waterway is appalling. I ask that tva at least come up with an alternate plan as would be likely in any proposal of a new project. Thank you negative Andy Sahn 37015 I do not want a methane plant near my home. I am actually amazed that TVA is not promoting renewable energy sources. It’s obvious they are only interested in profits and not the customers that enrich them. 600 acres can support a lot of solar panels. Ex. Rest area outside of Jackson TN. Please have some vision that is beyond your current balance sheets and/or your current executive bonuses. Regards Steve Tillisch negative Steve Tillisch 37015
