Cheatham County Generation Site EIS Scoping Report
Appendix C Summary of Scoping Comments
Tennessee Valley Authority
I am writing as a property owner in Cheatham County Tennessee. I have lived here for over 20 years. The idea of a methane plant in this area is shocking. Cheatham is one of the last counties that touch Davidson County that has seen any significant growth. The county is mostly rural with a game preserve on the south side of the Cumberland river. I am concerned over the negative impact on property values making the little growth that has happened even slower. Additionally, the air quality is another concern. Every fall there are numerous tobacco barns that smoke and their odor can be smelled for miles. A methane plant will be no different. This will be year round and will have a negative impact on property values. While phasing out the coal plant is positive it is only being offset with another fossil fuel which is not a gain at all. Rather than building a methane plant, why not go for solar or even wind? They may not produce as much power as the methane plant, they are more environmental friendly as well as not have the negative consequences of air quality or smell.

Years ago I learned that Cheatham County is a designated host area in the event of a nuclear attack on Nashville and Clarksville. Placing a methane plant will only make it more attractive target.
Finally, the traffic on Hwy 12 is nearly non-stop in the mornings and evenings. Adding a facility like a methane plant will only add to the congestion and require redesigning the highway system in that stretch of road.

As a lifelong resident of Chatham County, I refuse to accept the immense danger of a methane plant in my county. My family has lived in this county for over 100 years. There's a street in Ashland city named after my Great Grandfather George Van Hook. There will be no methane plant in Cheatham County. negative Victoria Roberson 37035

GO RENEWABLE ENERGY INSTEAD!!
Having grown up and gone to college in Appalachia, I have experienced the desecration of the land by plunderers. I could go on about lost mountaintops. I take a trip home about once a year.

So TVA, for the love of God, and above all else, protect the people and the land, no more fossil fuel inevitable filth and poison. No more fossil fuel dollars. No more fossil fuel filth.

If you cannot be a viable part of the 21st century by using renewable energies and stop the fossil fuel devastation to the planet you are the problem. Now is the time to be a leaders, with solutions to the climate chaos. negative Candice Rendzio 98683

Please keep our water and air clean. Why can't they build the methane plant where the current fossil plant is at.

A horrible outcome for Tennessee with the air and water pollution that will result from this gas plant and pipeline. A horrible outcome for our earth with the increase in greenhouse gases. Landowners lose property to pipelines, and workers will lose jobs to another dirty fossil fuel alternative when more could be employed creating clean energy. The TVA is proposing a disastrous solution for the future of this area. negative Natalie Ranker 97459

I know I would be equally upset if a methane gas pipeline were planned here in Maine!
