Methane gas pollution is no less dangerous than that of coal. In fact, it is quite likely significantly worse. The very thought of destroying more land for yet more fossil fuel pipelines is utterly crazy. Enough land and water has been ruined by the building of fossil fuel plants and pipelines. negative Rosalind Britten V7P 2J3

no new fossil fuel infrastructure! it is time to move into clean energy production amd makes great economic sense.

It is long past time that our nation develop modern infrastructure for renewable and sustainable energy. As your neighbor to the east, I feel that energy decisions rendered in TN can impact our air quality and environment as well. Please choose clean energy to carry our country forward! negative Larissa Bowman 28730-9696

Please respect our people!

I just inherited my great, great grandfathers farm in Newland Holland. I have looked forward to this for years and now my dream is being ruined. 1). Why are fossil fuel plants still the priority? Where are running out of time. 2) How could this be the appropriate location for such an industrial and toxic plant? It doesn’t make sense to ruin this area when there are so many industrial sites. Also there are so many generational spring and well fed homes and farms in this area. We need our farmers, sycamore creek, the wildlife, ecosystem and and waterways to remain untouched and protected. There has to be a better solution. God save us negative Gina Binkley 37205

Appalachian Voices Public Scoping Comment Letter Building another gas plant and battery storage system in Cheatham County to partially replace the second coal-burning unit at the Cumberland site would require another 12 miles of methane gas pipeline that would cut through private property and natural areas, exposing them to pollution and dangerous accidents. Choose clean, renewable energy and sustainable jobs — and stop investing in fossil fuels! It doesn’t make sense to trade one fossil fuel for another, especially when there are other safer options that are cheaper and just as reliable. negative Joan Bindner 55068

The warning signs of a climate in crisis have been largely ignored by people and businesses with certain beliefs. While I respect differences in opinion, the climate is collapsing, and I plead with people to consider that this is a real and is grave threat to our lives. Massive heatwaves, storms, record ocean temps, melting glaciers, and much more. Abnormal weather and temperatures have become commonplace and is rapidly increasing in frequency. Extracting, processing, and burning fossil fuels has to stop. Yes, Earth has cycles, but the emissions caused by burning fossil fuels has screwed up these cycles and has caused the planet to warm at an unnatural rate. A very very very fast rate. It is a scary time to be alive and the "I told you so" moment will bring no satisfaction. Please take this treat seriously in every decision you make. I wish I wasn't writing this. negative Kevin Bessett 5477

Think it’s about time we start caring about the people & land over profit. Abundance comes when we are stewards of the Earth & each other. Gotta switch around priorities a bit if we want to thrive, together. Our food & water/soil quality is literally life & y’all can go suck a friggin’ big toe if you think profit over a healthy society. Time to do the RIGHT thing for once… negative Lydia Berkey 37101

Renewable and clean energy, not trading one fossil fuel for another, is the only path forward. Solar and Wind energy are cheaper to implement now than ever before. It is a no brainer to invest in this sort of sustainable infrastructure instead of defaulting to fossil fuels.

No matter what the argument, investment in fossil fuels is a losing bet for our planet in the long run, and continuing to invest in them is detrimental to the environment and the people and other living creatures who live their lives in these areas RIGHT NOW. There is no way to undo some of the damage we have wrought by using fossil fuels for so long. All we can now is to try to curb future damage, and divesting from fossil fuels is a giant step in the right direction. negative Julia Baynor 37214

Don't use fossil fuels if you won't properly maintain pipelines and protect the environment including people's health.
