Appendix C Summary of Scoping Comments
Tennessee Valley Authority
As a former resident of West Virginia and someone with a deep appreciation for the beauty of the region, I am deeply disappointed that you are investing in new fossil fuel based infrastructure. It was essential to replace the coal-burning plants for many reasons, but there are alternatives to methane-burning replacements. Methane is a dangerous contributor to global warming and the extraction process is detrimental to local ecologies and the health of people living near by. Please find carbon-free alternatives that are clean and renewable and create sustainable jobs for local workers. negative Sue Swanson 1730

It's already too hot. Adding fossil fuel capacity will make things worse.
Enough with fossil fuels. Do you not understand that climate change is here and now? Snow storms in California. Tornadoes everywhere. Extreme heat for the past 3 weeks where I live. And no end in sight. negative Karen Sullivan 78596

Renewables are the future. Let’s get with the times! The earth needs to heal and it’s efficient doing that when it’s left undisturbed., we need to lessen our impact now.
I just read an article in a professional medical journal that so called safe levels of air pollution still cause brain damage in growing infants and children. The parents should be allowed to take legal action against those that cause it to insure they support those children for life. negative P. R. Sturm 89506 There is no such thing as a safe pipeline. Clean energy is better for Tennessee but for the planetoid everything that lives.Environment and climate change are the #1 threat to the planet. Short term greed & convenience over longterm good and safety is poor policy. negative L.S. strange 98281

Methane is far more toxic to the environment than even carbon dioxide. Please do not go backwards in our serious efforts to save the planet.

Such announcements should point out this largely ‘fracted’, not natural, gas and further adds “production pollutants” which will also counter efforts to reduce carbon emissions for attacking the greenhouse gases problems. negative James Southerland 27511

We oppose the power plant on Lockertsville Road as is it will have a negative impact on our property value, air quality, environmental disturbance of our waters and land. We have been land owners for more than 50 years and cherish our land and home. Please find other spaces for this monstrosity.

TVA doesn't seem to know that natural gas is mainly methane which is 32x more dangerous to the atmosphere than carbon dioxide. TVA has acreage that solar panels can be installed on and the sun is a free source of energy. Fossil fuels need to be eliminated from the energy mainstream. negative Tom Smedley 37205-3577

I am against the gas plant in Cheatham County because I know what it will do to our air and water, AND I know what the proposed 12 turbines will sound like at our home…yes I live that close to the plant and I know what it will do to the bedrock around our homes. You might want to check in Sycamore Creek for the Hellbender, a rare salamander. I’ve read on the Nextdoor app that they’ve been found there. If those aren’t enough reasons try the hundred residents who are losing family farms for a fraction of their current cost when this plant could be built in the industrial park in Ashland City where none of this would matter since you say none of this environmental issues apply. negative Tim Singleton 37015
