Cheatham County Generation Site EIS Scoping Report

Appendix C Summary of Scoping Comments

Tennessee Valley Authority

I’m directly across Lockertsville rd from the new tva land, where they plan on building this. I own around 65 acres, and four houses on the other side of the hill. I can’t think of a worse thing to diminish my investment in my Cheatham county dream home and land.

The senators or representatives once the get elected, they forget the people and go their own way thinking that no one call recall him/ her back

When the governments are chosen with the elections funded by the corporates, they shall have to follow the dictates of the corporates. The root cause, the election funding by corporates should be got stopped and elections should be held with zero expenses. Only state TV channel for canvassing, program, polices, and other declarations. Also an impeachment committee of social societies, no long drawn legal battles.

It doesn’t make sense to trade one fossil fuel for another, especially when there are other safe options that are more affordable and just as reliable. AND provide more and healthier jobs.

Signed form letter.

Methane is a terrible polluting gas and nothing should be built which would use or possibly emit methane gas! Therefore, the TVA should NOT build a methane gas-powered plant and miles of pipeline in Cheatham County. Instead, they should be building a plant which uses non-fossil fuels instead! That's the modern and much better option.

No pipeline is ever safe. Think of all of the disasters that have occurred and how communities become devastated with the accountable parties never restoring the region to how it was pre-leak/pre-disaster. This is such a sensitive region. The risks are not worth it. negative Gloria Shen 28805

Would the TVA be opposed to the community resourcing their own environmental study, at their own expense, and who would we contact to stay in communication with in your office to do so?

WHY?! WHY on EARTH would y'all think it is okay to build this out in God's country only to serve West Nashville?! The impact that this would have on the area in regards to pollution and eminent domain is absolutely detrimental to the way of life out here. These are century farms and hard working families out here and NO ONE asked for this natural gas plant to be built. The amount of supposed jobs that this would bring does not negate that this natural gas will not be available directly to the area and your company ENBRIDGE has a NUMBER of EPA violations and you are a CANADIAN company...why not build there?! PLEASE for the love of everything holy, go somewhere else. negative Jennifer Dubois

My property is located approximately one mile from the proposed/opposed site. While I am not a life long resident of the area, I married my late husband and moved here in 1989. My husband’s family and our farm property is some of the first deeds registered in Cheatham County in 1856. My concern is not only what happens to our environment, our creeks and our ponds, our wildlife, but also what happens to the value of our property? My husband passed away in 2017, leaving the farm to his family. In return we chose to sell a good portion of it and by doing so created some beautiful high dollar homesites, some close to $1,000,000 in value. While I’m concerned with my property value, I can’t imagine what will happen to the value of these new homesites. Why does it have to come here? What are your plans for the site that you apparently are replacing in Cumberland City? I grew up in that area, I was there when that plant became active back in the 60’s. And I know for multiple families in that area, you are threatening or destroying their financial future. How many people will lose their jobs and their livelihood when you shut that place down? Why can’t that property be converted to your new methane site? And how many jobs will be available at the proposed/opposed plant in Lockertsville? It is inconceivable why you feel the need to bring it into a very small rural area where creating road access alone for large vehicle transport will destroy century old farmland and countryside. I’ve been told the pipeline will cross multiple streams and destroy property values. Surely, in all your property search/research, a more viable location could be considered. During the first “meeting” in Ashland City, even your project manager, during his discussion with us, said if it was in his backyard, he’d fight it too. Most of us are smart enough to understand that individually we can’t fight you and win, however together I pray we make our voices heard.
