Shoosty Bugs / An Art Infestation - MOAS

WALLICHII

Stephen Shooster, aka Shoosty, introduc- es “Dicranocephalus Wallichii” (2025) at the Shoosty Bugs exhibition in Daytona’s Muse- um of Arts and Sciences, a serene 36” square vector art piece on 18mm silk twill. This Zen-in- spired work envelops a still beetle in a medita- tive aura, surrounded by stylized water drops that enhance its elegant, symmetrical patterns. The rich red background amplifies the beetle’s intricate design, a testament to Shoosty’s Chro- matic Fusionism, which fuses the science of art with the cultural synthesis of civilizations, lever- aging vector technology and Internet-informed creativity. The silk twill’s delicate texture ele- vates the piece’s tranquil sophistication.

This composition echoes the minimalist yet detailed woodblock prints of Japanese art- ist Hokusai, whose works often blend natural forms with serene symmetry, though Shoosty’s digital precision adds a contemporary edge.
