The Paschal Discourse of our Lord as recorded in John 13-16 is a mine filled with treasure for the one who is willing to engage in spiritual exploration. It is a well filled with refreshing water for him who thirsts after righteousness. The outstanding feature of the discourse is the information given concerning the Holy Spirit; it is one of the most profitable sections of the New Testament which relate to the person and work of the Eternal Spirit. The Holy Spirit is brought before us as the Comforter who abides with us forever, as the indispensable Teacher who knows all things, as the Spirit of truth who will testify of Christ and guide us into all truth. He will also glorify Christ and show us things to come. The work of the Holy Spirit in relation to the world is found in John 16:7-11.
