Lockdown kindness By Ron Swanson, Assistant Fundraising Manager During lockdown, we were extremely grateful and touched by the kindness and thoughtfulness of the Ayrshire community who reached out to donate gifts, equipment and PPE to our key workers at the hospice during such a difficult and challenging time.
Sanitiser Express crafted a hospice branded sanitising station to keep our key workers’ hands clean and safe. Arran Aromatics (ARRAN Sense of Scotland) kindly donated lovely goodie bags to our key workers which went down a treat!
We’d like to share just a few of these wonderful acts of kindness and support…
Kate Wilson and her two daughters, Stephanie and Emma, kindly donated two iPads to the hospice in loving memory of their beloved husband and Dad, Greig who received care from the hospice.
Savers Ayr
Savers in Ayr nominated the hospice to receive items donated from their customers.
Arran Aromatics
Lesley Irving kindly managed to source PPE for our staff. Lesley’s Mum, Pauline, was cared for in the hospice and Lesley and family wanted to give something back. Lesley reached out to dentist friends G1 Dental and also comedian Johnny Vegas who has been helping out communities during the pandemic. Johnny managed to source PPE through Wright Investments.
Hayes Garden Land
Staff with donated iPads
Fiona McKinlay also kindly donated an iPad. Both Kate and Fiona were thinking of our patients who may not be able to see all of their family members due to the current social distancing restrictions and thought that the iPads would be a good way for loved ones to keep in touch.
Lynn McMorrow
Lynn McMorrow got very imaginative in her garden and crafted a cheerful creation of our very own mascot, Agent H using items that she had around her house during lockdown! Loch Lomond Group delivered fifteen cases of sanitiser to the hospice.
Tesco Extra Irvine
Hayes Garden Land and Tesco Extra Irvine donated their stock of Easter eggs to our hospice staff who were still working hard caring for our patients and families. We loved their egg-cellent gifts!
