Fantastic family fundraising team! By Graeme Strawhorn, Assistant Fundraising Manager We are always moved by the amazing support from family and friends who have been touched by hospice care in Ayrshire. Recently, one family went the extra mile - or many miles rather - to fundraise for our cause. In January this year, John McLaughlin, devoted husband to Sharon and and will never forget. In John’s memory, Team McLaughlin, are helping us to make today matter for patients like John and their families, who find themselves in a similar situation.
nights, Spanish lessons over Zoom, sponsored walks, virtual runs and marathons, creating rainbow displays with help from grandson Jacob, producing face masks and special rainbow “ thinking of you” cards to raise money. Sharon recently turned 50 and marked this occasion by holding a birthday fundraiser on Facebook. John worked at Spirit Aerosystems for 33 years and his colleagues held a collection in memory of John and many of them also kindly donated to Sharon’s birthday fundraiser. Team McLaughlin’s efforts have been nothing short of tremendous and we are very pleased to share that they have smashed John’s target of £10,000 and have so far raised a remarkable £19,000 for the hospice. An achievement, John would be extremely proud of. Go Team McLaughlin part of the ever-growing

John had hoped his family would raise £10,000 for the hospice to say thank you. Sharon and her three grown up children Stephanie, Gemma and Kieran along with all their family, friends and colleagues have channelled some of their sadness and grief into focusing on fundraising as much as they can for the hospice.
