Young plant production of cyclamen Our young plant production mainly takes place from February to early August. Season preparations starts much earlier. It starts with the evaluation of the past season to find improve- ments for the new season. Then seed quality is looked at to se- lect the best lots, to be prepared ready for the sowing season. we build in some buffer, a pre determined scrap rate per variety, to deliver the young plant quantity and quality as ordered.
In order to achieve the best possible end result, we look at each tray type for desired roots and leaves to meet the plant profile. We espe- cially focus on variety colour mixes to get them as uniform as possi- ble. When transplanting small plugs into our XT72 large plug format, we pay extra attention to guarantee a good start for all plants.
The germination of different seed lots is determined in our laborato- ry under standardised conditions. This germination test enables us to determine production results under average conditions. We trans- late this data per varieties into expectations in greenhouse conditi- ons. We see that the germination results show a slight fluctuation in greenhouse production versus our laboratory results and therefore
