SGS | Absorbent Hygiene Products Testing

Incontinence products

Nowadays, incontinence absorbent products are no longer produced to reach high loads of absorbency only. They are refined to reach users expectations while meeting sustainability goals (e.g. limiting absorbent material).

SGS has been at the forefront of developments to respond those eco-design considerations, proposing simulation testing methods that take the product design and features into account for the performance evaluation. Application range Testing solutions are applied to the full-range of adult incontinence (from light to heavy flow): • Women and men products • Pads, brief, pants and pouches Relevant tests • ABLb: Absorption before leakage – heavy incontinence • ABLc: Absorption before leakage – medium incontinence

• ABLd: Absorption bbefore Leakage – light incontinence • ASH: Anarewet skin hydration – adult hygiene • Multiple acquisition time through anarewet plus system • SWAP tests (Substitution Works And Performance) • NWSP 354.0: Absorption before leakage using an adult mannequin • C52 / C52B / C55 – Closure system efficiency • Walking tests (Sagging effect / core integrity)

• Digital softness analysis • Expert sensory evaluation

• Product characteristics (Dimension and weights, list of layers, retention capacity, Super Absorbent Powder (SAP) content etc.) • ISO 11948 - Urine absorbing - aids - Part1 - whole product testing
